Hey everyone!
This is my first serious project.
It's a rogue-like hack 'n' slash dungeon crawler.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to give a little report of what I've done today.

I'm working on a large update with mostly flora and fauna and small objects.

I've added destructible barrels with treasures/traps inside them.

Also I've added stone paths and zombies.

Currently I'm brainstorming for some more enemies.

Anyone has a good idea for a monster?

I have made a lot of changes in the game, so I thought I'd just post a few new screenshots of Alpha 0.2,

Also, I'm working on the Alpha 0.2 demo at the moment

I like what I see so far.

I giggled when I read the message about teleporting. It didn't click with me that you actually meant TELEPORT.
The juvenile part of me, which I've been keeping in check for a few decades, immediately went inside my brain to TPing the trees. For a moment I was super thrilled that you would have something so erratic and silly implemented.

Oh, well.

But keep up the great work!

Oh, wait, I also had a bug report. At the very top where the Queen Slime resides, I was able to teleport (I almost wrote TP but decided against it) north of the wall. I was basically stuck in a strip between the outside margin and the wall. And I couldn't teleport back into the building but I was able to attack the slimeys through the wall, and they attacked me and eventually killed me.

PS I'm going to upvote any thread I'm in until this forum goes belly up. Sadly I used up my votes last night, so I will revisit here later tonight.

Thanks for the review! (And the vote up)

That bug is already fixed, cause in the 0.2 update the teleport range is decreased.

I'm happy that people are thinking positively about my project.

I'm just 16 years old now and I just couldnt wait to start with my carreer.

Nice to have some experience with how working on a large project works.

I'll try to work as much as possible on the project but I have to take care of school to :(

Hey everyone!

It's been a while,

Sorry for not letting you guys know anything bout the proces of the game.

I wanted to upload alpha 0.2 a really long time ago,

But I didnt because I wanted to polish everything up first.

And I did, and 0.2 is almost done.

It looks so much better and works so much better.

There are a whole load of new features.

I think it will be uploaded within 2 weeks

I like the art. Found a bug where I couldn't restart after I died. I'm not too sure what you're using for you slash animation, but, slashing upwards has a much smaller range than slashing to the sides or downward. If you haven't yet, maybe look into using lengthdir_x and lengthdir_y functions? Also, collision with walls feels a little clunky.

 

Other than that, I look forward to seeing more from you :)

Where did you occur this bug may I ask?
Did you activate a portal before this error occurred?
I'm currently working on the collision system of the game,
I will look into the slash animation to.
I will integrate this all into the Alpha 0.3 version.

I tried the newest version. Overall the game sounds amazing, looks pretty good and plays alright.  :thumbsup:

 

I had a hard time figuring out that Q and E picked up and dropped items, you should probably mention that somewhere. Also, I'm not so sure what that flask in the bottom left is or if i could use it.

 

My first attempt ended with me dying at the slime boss and the game not letting me respawn. When I pressed Z the music started playing, but I stayed at the Game Over screen.

 

My second attempt ended with me being stuck at the second boss because he got out of the boss room.

Thanks for the review,

I am going to work on a tutorial at the start of the game to clear things before playing.

The flask has no real purpose yet, but I have some plans for it in the future.

Also, I think I know where this bug is coming from.

When you've played an earlier version before the newer version tries to load the save file of the old version.

I think that this is what causes the bug.

I will be trying to fix it very soon.

Hey, I just started to play the game, but after I got the axe (the first door (key needed)) I got killed, I got stuck in the respawn screen, I had to restart :)

Don't think that's what happened in my case. I reinstalled windows between playing the versions.  :sweat:
