using your dll (simply trying out your example program) I am having the problem that I don't get any sound playing the videos and sometimes they start playing way to fast. As the videos run normally using WMPlayer or VLC I assume it cannot have something to do with codecs?
Any advice for me?
All the best, Benny

Otherwise I am not sure. The dll uses the MCIWnd[...] Windows API calls, more on them here: http://msdn.microsof...d757172(v=vs.85).aspx Maybe that will be helpful to you.

hey, i'm new on this forum so i'll keep things short.Alright thank you I'll look into how to do this? BTW is there anything that needs to be improved on this DLL it doesn't seem to be very popular at all and I'm wondering what i'm doing wrong...
Is there a way po play the video in the background of the game, so you can see objects that are in front of it?
I need this becouse i'm making a guitar hero - like game so i need a background video and i think this dll could be an answer to my prayers :D.
Thanks in advance

Not that I know of. The MCI commands draw on top of the game window itself, so there would be no way for Game Maker to draw anything on top of that.Is there a way po play the video in the background of the game, so you can see objects that are in front of it?

I'm very rusty on the API of things, but looking through the source it looks like GMMovie_SetPosition and GMMovie_SetSize do what you're looking for?Hey I've got a question. How can I use your dll to play a video in only a portion of the game window?

Is this DLL compatible with GM:Studio or only with GM8.1?
I am actually looking for a way to play movies in my GM:S projects.
Creating realtime cut scenes using GM engine is not an option at all for me ATM.
I would like to be able to use videos like any commercial game out there....

Unfortunately this DLL has not been in dvelopment for many years and no new versions of GameMaker (including GM:Studio) are officially supported. The last officially supported release was GameMaker 7 if I remember correctly. It is possible that it would be compatible versions, depending on if the way GM accesses DLLs has changed or not since then. However, I have no experience with these newer versions and am not able to assist you in any way with that transition. Perhaps there are others on the forum who would be more useful?

I agree would be nice if there was something out there to make GM:S use video's. Still baffled at the decision to remove this function simply because it doesn't work for "tablet/phones"
