A journey through life and death...

Story of how my development time was spent:
1/23/15 || 18:00 - I read the topic, and debated on what type of game to create
|| 18:30 - Realizing that this is indeed a very tough topic, I sketched out a layout of some random ideas I had in my head
|| 19:15 - I had a pretty solid concept on paper, and now it was time to begin developing
|| 19:16 - But first, dinner
|| 19:45 - Alright, I started to think of the name (bad idea to do it first, but whatever it sounds good). The splash screen that shows up when starting the game was tedious to make.
|| 21:30 - I don't know why I spent so much time on the splash screen...
|| 22:00 - I started making images for the objects on the title screen, which would be my major downfall in this endeavor.
|| 24:00 - Midnight strikes, and I have just finished making the title screen images look pretty awesome. I went for a rustic feel, thinking in my head about what it would look like when
the lighting effects were put in.
|| 01:00 - I start to work on placing the title screen objects, and I'm getting pretty tired. So I grab a Mountain Dew MLG MODE ENGAGE
|| 02:30 - Going ham on the title screen still, putting particle effects in, random sparks, glows, and all that jazz. (Brain forgot this was a timed event, apparently)
|| 03:30 - After a quick lookup on how to make simple lighting, I implement it successfully, if not terrible usabilty-wise.
|| 03:31 - TITLE SCREEN LOOKS SO NICE SO I ADMIRE IT FOR 3 MINUTES
|| 03:55 - Write down things I want to accomplish tomorrow (technically later that day... heh) in my sketchbook. Think of some cool idea I hopes that I have time to implement.
1/24/15 || 09:38 - Wake up and get to work, start a random drawing of my character
|| 10:30 - I actually like the look of it, and decide to keep the sketches as the look of my actual character.
|| 11:00 - Stressing over how much time I wasted on a freaking title screen yesterday... sigh
|| 12:00 - Begin to work on level creation, and realize that lighting doesn't work across rooms. WELL THEN
|| 01:00 - ~10 game objects later, I manage to make lighting work across rooms, and have an easy way to store data across rooms as well. Nice job me.
|| 05:00 - Level design takes a lot longer than I thought... but I need new sprites to make this area look even the slightest of interesting.
|| 07:00 - Factory sprites complete, and factory level set done.
|| 09:00 - Thinking about how I should put in these great ideas I had.
|| 12:00 - Should be going to bed, since I feel terrible... but I power through! Keep going with that level creation and character improvement.
|| 03:00 - Call it quits for the night.
1/25/15 || 11:00 - DANG IT I DIDN'T WAKE UP TO THE ALARM
|| 11:30 - While eating breakfast, realize my right field of vision is slowly deteriorating.
|| 11:40 - I can't see anything in the right side of my view... Get freaked out and panic cuz thats a good way to handle things
|| 11:50 - Migraine ensues, nice timing
|| 12:15 - Lay down in bed with laptop to try and work on game, but my head and eyes hurt too much
|| 12:20 - Sleep like a baby... and boy did I sleep.
|| 06:10 - Wake up feeling perfectly fine. I now know what it's like to experience sleep deprivation.
|| 07:00 - Feeling sad because I don't have much time to work on the game anymore... haven't even gotten to the interesting part yet.
|| 09:00 - Level creation, and character and game improvements
|| 09:30 - Have to get off for the day to do homework, since school is tomorrow... noooooo
1/26/15 || 03:15 - CODE THE FASTEST I HAVE EVER CODED IN MY LIFE
|| 04:30 - Majority of 2nd area complete, but I need to implement this twist quick or else it's just another boring platformer.
|| 04:50 - MY MOUSE EXPLODED. I don't even know... I was just typing, and I start to hear a sizzle coming from my right hand. I look at the mouse and then POP it jumps in the air,
landing upside down. I pry open the back and one of the batteries has its top blown off, with battery acid leaking everywhere, so I clean it off. Back to mousepad
Cleanup time: 10 minutes. NEW RECORD!
|| 05:30 - Wow. I actually did it. And for the first time in my life, the code worked perfectly for this first time! And I'm talking a huge chunk of code rewriting! Nice job me.
|| 05:40 - Add some extra sprites to make it more pretty, might as well right?
|| 05:45 - Added final room so game doesn't just crash when done. Still basically has 0 ending tho. Bad job me.
|| 05:50 - Submitted game here. Wow what an experience... if I participate again I will definitely have to work on time management.
Overall, I learned a lot from this, and hopefully will be able to make games even quicker in the future!
GAME COMPLETE! Well, sort of. here ya go
