Story:

In the age of electronics, the toy-robots became kids favorite playthings. However, young, ambitious designer, created a new toy. A Kid. A Box Kid! A toy made out of cardboard. A toy that should breathe life into the world of imagination. But company's CEO wasn't impressed by that idea and he threw Box Kid into the garbage chute... But was that the real reason? Unveil the truth, as you help Box Kid discover his destiny!

Description:

  • Movement: arrow keys or mouse (click where you want to go).

Sell first of all this is a pretty nice puzzle alpha with some interesting gameplay mechanics. I downloaded the PC version and used the touch controls mostly, but I couldn't use the swipe ofcourse, so I switched. However I noticed how less sliperry was everything with the arrows and how fast and loose it was all with the touch controls, I would incidentally push a bomb or that crystal block next to the wall and it was stuck there for good. Other than that I think it's a good alpha start, just needs more content which is expectable.

Hi everyone!

I'm responsible for all the coding made in Box Kid Adventures. It's great learning field, as game is not too complicated (especially at AI part).

@NightRider

Yup, game is more difficult while using touch/mouse controls. With arrows you're using more fingers, so you can respond faster. That's why we try to focus more on puzzle side of the game, instead of action. That makes level design more interesting and challenging for us :)

Hi, it's almost 2 months since our last post, so it's time to change that ;-)

First - this is a new artwork for the Box Kid Adventures. It's composed of enemies and objects from our game.

BjFLpwB.png

We are working on this game all the time, and we made some good progress. Quicksave feature is done and will be available in next demo build. We created many new objects, like doors, conveyor belts and fans, just to name a few.
I'm currently working on new level theme (prehistoric jungle) and my brother is implementing new enemy type.

The controls are a big turn off for me. Too weird. Would be nice if box kid followed the cursor for as long as i held down the button. I understand that this is supposed to be multi-platform. But you have to understand that some games just don't work out that way.

Really nice artwork though, love it.

It's really that weird? We'll try to make it better then :-). Thanks for your feedback d(^_^)b

We designed the game to be played on keyboard (or gamepad - which is not supported in current alpha demo) and we tought controls were farily simple (arrow keys for movement and ctrl for attack mode), but maybe we are too used to it.

Not bad, keep up the good work!

I did find the game a little hard, but it was fun. I especially like the graphics; the laser thing is very cool. Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Thanks!

2nd and 3rd level are quite hard indeed, they will be late levels, if they find their way to final release. We added quicksaves, so that should ease the game. 0

When we started the game, it had a little different perspective and sprites were 64x64 pixels. Fortunately we had a break in developing and when we came back to the game, we did complete overhaul, changing perspective ( a lil'), going more cartoony (which was initial design, but was lost in the process) and making 128x128 pixels grid. It looks way better now, and we're happy that we had that break.

looking awesome, i like the mix of "bomberman" and "shove it" and the level design is really well thought,  the thing im not really feeling its the main character, its just too off/plain for me, but its just a matter of taste

congrats!

Hi!
We just added a new alpha demo of the Box Kid Adventures.

There are some bugfixes and changes to the UI.
We also added clear, in-game description of the controls.

Please give it a try and tell us what you think ^_^

What's going on here, not much feedback is happening!

Well it looks good, that's all i can say, it reminds me of those classic box pushing games i played as a youngster.

Take the pistol, aim the front towards yourself, pull the trigger, why? because it's not a prank gun no longer.

This game is such a light-hearted and fun looking game, something that has been lacking in an age of bloody competitive game-play. The graphics are just beautiful, the soundtrack is so upbeat and fun, and the level design looks so in depth and well thought out! Keep it up and congratz on making it to SteamGreenlight!
