This is a battle system for a turn-based RPG.  Note that this is not a full RPG project, just the battle system (and going in and out of the battle room).

Features:

  • Up to 4 player fighters on the field at once
  • Up to 8 enemies on the field at once
  • Attacking, defending, specials, items, and running away
  • As many specials or items as you want, you can have
  • Players and enemies can use specials, and can even use each other's specials.
  • Experience and leveling up
  • Game over screen with options
  • Play the battle with either the keyboard or the mouse
  • pdf document including how to make changes

Just what I need! My new upcoming RPG is going to be easy!

At a battle systems... Click you or your ally to commands. when it clicked, press up or down at a scroll any command, attack, gaurd, magic, idems.

If you click 2 hero's, new command has added temporally: combo, with 2 elements at a same time. Makes a new one.

I do intend to add on extra controls to be able to select actions with the mouse.  For the time being, combination attacks can be added by adding on a main menu choice, and using the subchoice scripts.  I might try mashing some similar scripts together so that it is easier for you to make completely new menu options.

1.0.2 update: You can now select (and undo) actions with the mouse!  This means you can do the entire battle with the keyboard and the mouse!

Not too sure, but I'm open for suggestions.  Tossing around linked attacks, but I feel I should do something with the main choice option (attack, defend, run, etc) to allow presets that other people come up with (which might also make it easier to edit new ones people want specifically for their engine).  Then you could just re-arrange a few of the presets in whatever order you please.

Hi there,

 

I've just bought this, but can't get it to work.

 

After importing, I try to run it but it just hangs at teh VPL logo screen.

 

Any clue as to why?

The above problem has been resolved.  It seems that the rooms did not have any objects in them (even though the rooms haven't changed).  I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced the problem (as no other people contacted me), but I will re-upload the rooms (re-upload the asset sometime today).  Nothing new function-wise will be added in that 'update.'
