Title: Kiss Me Cthulhu
Genre: Tactical Smoochy Action (or a stealth game even). Kind of like Mikie meets Metal Gear.
Setup: The monsters have finally broken through, and our time is at hand. Luckily for us, Mina Lovelace, renowned demonologist and the world's best kisser, has found these foul creatures' one weakness: embarrassment. Sneak up on the monsters and steal a kiss before they spot you, making them run back, blushing, into the void. These fiends are bitter to the taste though, so be sure to scour rooms for cakes and sticky buns to keep the bitterness at bay.

Aand we're sunk. I pushed it as hard as I could, but just couldn't make it anywhere near in time. Ah well, live and learn.

Gameplay : Jimmy Jam must rush to the devils auction and buy back his mother, but the way is full of monsters, some monsters can be used to help Jimmy Jam reach his mother, and some will try to capture him. The devil´s minion is also chasing Jimmy Jam the whole way through.
 
Story - The devil kidnapps Jimmy Jams mother and is planning on selling her on his auction in hell. It´s up to Jimmy Jam to get back his mother and save the day.
 
The game is now complete!

Description: Keeping the intention of this game more of a secret until i get more progress :)!
Story: Monsters have taken over the world, and it's your job to go into their Monster HQ and find out the truth, however you must not be seen. You are also only a kid, who is terribly afraid of monsters.

The concept:
You'll going to guide a monster called Måns ("å" is a Swedish letter that's pronounced (kinda) like the "o" in e.g. "more")  to the wardrobe so that he can come out on the other and scare children (the scaring scenes will never be shown to avoid violence). It's a physics-based platformer. The monster can walk and jump a little. To his help he'll have a cannon that can shoot out other monster. In that way, the player can construct towers and stairs to reach the wardrobe.

 

    The game is done!

Over an hour later, I just finished the collectables screen, but that pretty much means my story has a start and end now. I just wonder how many people will be lucky enough to see it through to the end!

Made a few tweaks to the HUD presentation.

Spent the morning relentlessly designing rooms.

Still only been creating rooms all morning, time for a break! (Two more rooms to create then my world is complete!)

One more room done, one more to go!

Woohoo! All world rooms finished! With any more time I find to spend I can now add some polish, but I am down to only a few hours available to me between now and the submission time! I'm very relieved to have the level design all out of the way!

When you collect all 10 fossils (aka collectables) you gain the ability to fly!

You now return to the collectable room when colliding with a collectable again, but minus the animation (so effectively, you can view the collectables all in place).

 

T + 71:41

Hectic last couple of hours. Didn't get everything I wanted done, and the sounds didn't work at all for some reason :( Also, when trying to implement a save system, I was getting "Out of Memory" errors. Still, I've submitted it and it is easily playable in 1 sitting, so I hope people enjoy it!

Title: Doom Sheep

Theme: Monsters (Used.)

Handicap: Must contain no violence (Blatantly ignored.)

 

Description: You play as a cannibal monster sheep with tentacles instead of wool and you try to eat the other sheep on the farm without Farmer Brown shooting you with his shotgun.  It's a simple top-down arcade style game where you move with the WASD keys and use the mouse to control your tentacle to grab and eat sheep.

 

Story: It was an ordinary day for Farmer Brown.  He was tending to his crops, watching his sheep in the fields in the distance.  But then there was an explosion.  Recognizing that this was far from ordinary, Farmer Brown rushed to the site of the disaster.  When he arrived, he found a demonic sheep-like creature devouring one of his sheep.  "What the hell is that?!" he shouted.  "Stop it!"  For a brief moment, the creature stopped chewing the sheep's face.  "Baaaa. (The dark lord Satan is my sheppard.)" it replied, and then continued to consume its helpless victim.  Farmer Brown would not stand for this.  He ran to the house to grab his shotgun.

Got a lot accomplished while at work today. Yes, I ended up having to work.

Did a bunch of spriting and animation. Tried to implement a point system, but was having trouble balancing it. Added some features (healthbars of sorts) to help the player see what's happening.

I was going to do more after work, but my buddies kept pouring beer down my throat. Needless to say, I passed out early.

Monday

My last chance to finish this thing. I've made a menu screen, started an F1 help file, and redesigned the point system by adding a countdown timer. Won't have time for a high score table, I think. Still need music and sound. It's gonna be close. Don't know if I'll have time to post any screenies or logos. May have to post them afterwards in the discussion topic.

Concept started, first room fully drawn, player and movement made. Decided to try some sort of visual novel-type game for the first time. Not sure whether it will follow the handicap or not. Fun stuff so far.

You'll be able to grow your own monster in your laboratory by changing it's chromosomes.
 
Adjust the right chromosomes to get the change you want. Only with experimentation you will learn which chromosomes affect the Monster's hair, arms, feet, mouth, eyes and pigmentation.
 
Grow Monsters and keep them in your collection.

hunters are slowed by objects, you are stopped by objects (some monster pshaw...)

Getting closer to done!

Don't have much of a chance winning compared to some of the other entries.

Being a complete noob to GM:S its not bad

just 1 level escape or get captured

Yes I did a quick down and dirty gamepad detect. I have an XBox360 controller so your controller may work or not.

No sound or music

 

not a complete waste (for me at least, for everyone else.... ya) I did learn a bunch of stuff and it does LOOK ok it just plays like a pile.

 

Main thing I learned.... Collect useful code.       Its gotta be the way a lot of these entries look so damn cool.

 

I guess I'll upload to my site so everyone can bask in its lameness.

I'll add source code too, I really would like for someone who knows GM:S to give a quick peek at it and let me know if the code is flawed,easier/better ways to do things. You get the idea.

It is back! New, super exciting sequel to NAJG and NAJG2. This time, however, Shadow Bat is on a peaceful mission. The blue monsters have become evil and he must prevent them from becomming violent or the world as we know it may become blue. Is Dr. Square behind it?

7 Emeralds

Driven by greed, you journey to the Cave Of The Monsters to retrieve the 7 fabled emeralds from within its cavernous corridors. Will you trusty spear serve you well enough to make you return alive?

 

 

7Emeralds is a metroidvania-genre game where you explore a big cave to find the titular 7 emeralds. When you collect them, you get more powers that lets you reach new areas. There is no way to recover HP except finding a Heart Jar, and they're limited in quality, so you'd better not get hurt. Contains large RPG elements! Contains a really cool map! Contains nearly 20 different types of monsters to fight! Does not follow the 'no violence' handicap... more precisely the opposite!

Woke up with an idea. The fuzz monster can break apart into peices!

Created a very quick prototype and it seems to work so I've decided to enter.

I probably won't have time for much of a devlog!

Unfortunately I won't have time to enter more than a pretty basic demo

version. But at least it's something!

 

[DOWNLOAD]

In Fuzzmonster fuzzballs can collect together to form a monster which can

jump higher and further than any individual fuzz. You use this ability to find

your way around the fuzz cave!
