From what I understand about the GMC Jam, you're not supposed to prepare anything beforehand. It's 72 hours to complete a game from start to finish. Period.

That being said, you are allowed to use resources that are already available. In other words, you are not allowed to create any resources to be used in the jam. To me, doing so would be cheating.

I feel as though this would be a great way to through myself into the deep end and see what I could do with Game Maker.

Though my time-zone means I'll have less time(Weekends are busy and I have school on the Monday. xP)

So I'm way ahead of you guys.


That saves you a whole 8.96 seconds. Economy programming, I like it.

theme: MONSTERS

handicap: MUST CONTAIN NO VIOLENCE OR BAD GUYS

(that'd fit nicely with what Nocturne said I think)

What I've learned from past Jam experiences:
Jam 8 - Make sure your game doesn't lag miserably on other people's computers
Jam 9 - Keep at least eight backups of your game at all times
Jam 10 - Don't go on vacation for half the time and expect to finish a game
With those three disasters averted, what wonderful experiences await this time? :P

Hopefully I could fully make game in exact 72 hours this time. Last jams i only use about 1/5 of the given time, so I hope I could do an 'all in' this jam.

Darkness would be cool.... especially if the theme was "must contain no shadings or the dark"

 

I bet were not even close to the handicap, though. 'Must contain no' sounds really weird;.

Ah, well I have always considered him as one of the best game maker programmers thats why it is interesting, because I know he is way better than many of us here, so to beat him you have to think like him, or in this case like him and lolgirl.

The rules are written in a way that sounds really relaxed. Its all based on the honor system anyway. The way I understand it is that you can pretty much use any resources that you had from before in your game. The Jam is for the benefit of the competitors. Its all about having a fun time. So making a game ahead of time to win is..... y'know. Cheetahs never prosper.

I completely understand that, and the sole reason I asked was to make sure(I hit enter mid sentence. Derp) that I don't cheat.
