Hi guys,

I haven't been around here in years (you can see what I've been up to recently by trying out my latest game at http://chronodisfunglement.com). I started making Battleships Forever back in 2005 (I worked on it over two years). But I came back to say this:

Thank You.

I'm gonna graduate from DigiPen soon and I'll be starting work at Bungie next week. Somehow, everything worked out for me. But the truth is, my journey with game development started here.

When I was working on Battleships Forever, it was the feedback and encouragement I received from the community that kept me going. Without you guys, Battleships Forever would never have come together. Without Battleships Forever I would never have gotten an IGF nomination. Without that IGF nomination I would never have gotten a job as a game designer. Without working as a game designer I would never have gone to DigiPen. Without going to DigiPen I would never have gotten into Bungie.

I would not be where I am without you guys. Thank you very much for all the support and feedback you guys have provided over the years. Thank you for putting up my with my truly terrible first few games. Thank you for the honest feedback that taught me to be a better game designer/developer.

Sounds exciting. Are you leaving Singapore to move to Bellevue, Washington (US)? Also, is your job there a designer position (they have many advertised), or more programming/engineering? Just curious...

Good luck with it. :)

Always great to hear from GMCers who went on to turn what they love to do in their spare time (game making) into what do they do for a living.

I'm sure you have a bright future ahead!

PS: Chrono Disfunglement looks really amazing! Nice concept & the style/visuals are top notch!

Keep up the great work!

I'll be a gameplay programmer. Studied computer science at DigiPen for this (took their RTIS program). Just arrived in Washington today.

Their RTIS program looks interesting. Strong emphasis on the technical side of CG/simulation programming, with the physics and math behind it. Judging by its student awards and industry connections, Digipen itself looks pretty impressive too.

Must be exciting to start a new job, in a new country, in a new culture.

Congrats, th15. In my mind you were definitely one of the stand-out members of GMC from the early days and had what seemed like a bright future ahead. Best of luck at Bungie. :)

Only thing I know about you is that you created Battleships Forever and I loved playing it.  Congrats and best of luck.

You were one of the first people I got to know on the GMC and I played Battleship Forever many times. I mean I got it on all the PCs I went through throughout the years.

The game was an amazing accomplishment at the time and I am very happy you are in a good place from all you did from there on out. Congrats!

So I'd like to say this: Welcome back! :)

Your game was indeed one of the greatest on yoyogames and I loved playing it, to the point where I felt the need to make my own demake of it. Your game was my motivation and I believe it may have been so for many other gamemaker enthusiasts. Congratulations and good luck :).
