FamiTracker should prove itself as a great tool to create music. It allows you to create your own instruments, and put notes in certain lanes. It is easy to use, and has a user-friendly manual. It allows you to export your sound as a .wav.

Yeah. It's to make music. Can't say, why I put that in between the list of tools to create art. I'm sometimes really tired.

It might have been because your list was pulled entirely out of an article, down to super-sketchy referral links for a few of the tools, which I had to silently edit out of your post (replacing them with actual links to the software) on the day of it's appearance.

I *may* take my good old procedural sky generators and remake them on Studio if I find some time :3

I'll be sure to post them here ;)

EDIT: alright, did a quick little generator, I'll upload it asap. I think I'll need to put a topic in the WIndows Creations forum.

It may be a paid software, but I would highly recommend adding Adobe Illustrator considering that there's a lack of vector based image editing software on your list.

If you're a student, you can also get a free copy of AutoCAD, which is the industry standard software for line drawing. Its just a bit hard to be artsy with it, but if you learn how to use the software it works very well with any other vector editing software or 3D modelling software.

+1 for Illustrator. I've used a few vector programs but Illustrator is leagues ahead of them.

a few vector programs

Including Inkscape? It's a little tedious at times but I've seen many people get really good at it.

Well, they're all on modarchive I believe, so I think they're free-use (for free games at least).

Not accurate enough info for my tastes :P I've never released commercial games yet, but I've always strived for a situation where I potentially could sell my creations.

(I more or less exclusively download stuff I know is CC0 or CCA nowadays, and preferably the former so that I don't need to keep track of who to credit - the music in Raiden Hakusan is some edited CC0 stuff, for instance. Finding the perfect stuff for your game only to realize you can't actually use it because of copyright issues... is kinda painful.)
