I haven't made any posts in either of this jam's topics so far, but I still made an entry:

Mr Bird
Posted Image
Mr Bird is a simple endless flight game where you gain speed by falling, go through rings to score points and navigate between stones.
The course is randomly generated, more stones appearing when you play better.
It saves the achievements and highscore in an ini file called 'inifile.ini'.

Download: http://host-a.net/u/...zard/MrBird.exe

This is as complete as the game will be, with no sounds or music.

The incredible not a joke game

Yeah, that's right. In this amasing experience with impresive graphics, no annoying sounds and a purely epic story you help Shadow Bat defeat doctor Square in a single level full of awesomeness. Fight your way to a horde of enemies to reach the final boss. And the great combat system makes it even better.

Fight, explore and do much more in this masterpiece.

Here's my entry! I had no internet access and forgot all about the theme and moreso handicap, and when I realized I'd forgotten to call Simaster and ask him to look it up on the net it was too late to work it into the game. >__<

Game topic: http://gmc.yoyogames...howtopic=569228

Posted Image

Shattered Whirr

Yal's best Jam game ever featuring characters you've known to love and large amounts of insane cartoon violence!

Posted Image

What is this?
A spoiler-free spinoff game to Shattered World, featuring all five female stars (including Sarhya the dragon). Blast your way through hordes of barbarians, steam-powered tanks and warsieges using nuclear Whirr suits and special attacks covering half the screen! Smash treasure chests and load yourself with booty before taking on the waves of impossible bosses one after another! Supports two-player cooperation mode for covering fire, or a single-player mode for people that doesn't have any friends.

Posted Image

Why should I play it?
Five playable characters with unique special attacks and stats! Lots of bosses! Lots of challenge! Lots of insanity! Lots of science gone haywire! This will be the game you won't forget until the next Jam, so why don't you give it your best shot!

Five difficulty settings from Boring to Suicide, each one living up to their names.

Download links:
Box: https://www.box.com/...d6oo74ifkba080r
YYG Sandbox: http://www.sandbox.y...shattered-whirr

Posted Image

How to play
Use Z to charge up power and let go to fire. There's two level of charged shots, each one is totally worth the time you need to charge up! Keep killing enemies to avoid getting trapped. You can press X to turn around when need be to fire in the other directions.

When you take damage from running into a wall or enemy, you get temporarily unstable. Get hit again before stabilizing to violently explode, painting the surrounding terrain (and the screen) with your blood. So obviously... stabilize before making another mistake if you want to live to see the stage boss. Even if you mess up, you have multiple extra lives and get new ones every 100 000 points.

Hit multiple enemies with the same attack for combo bonus points, and smash treasure chests for really valuable items!

Posted Image

Have fun, get a friend to play with you, and see if you can live to encounter the first boss! And don't forget to vote for Yal in the 9th GMC Jam!

GMC Jam 9: Teh Gaem - A text based adventure

Does it follow the theme?
Of course not! Science is for nerds!
Does it follow the handicap?
Handicaps are for the weak!
So...what does it follow?
The spirit of the Jam of course!

GMC Jam: Teh Gaem features:

-Stunning, new fangled 1 bit graphics!
-A cutting edge, text based choice system!
-Thousands of alternate endings, 5 to be exact!
-Funny humour! Amazing, right?
-And a story that makes as much sense as Gangnam Style!

Here's a taste of the mouth-watering graphics that are present in game:

Ok, my game is based off the song Amoeba. Its a little hard to see how the game relates to the topic so I will include a link to the lyrics. Its a little buggy still so please take that in to account.

Outofsight - A confusing 3D maze game

It's 1962.
You've been chosen to do a secret government experiment.
When you come on your first day, you are thrown into a gray room.
You start becoming fatter and fatter until you are a blue cube.
Now you must explore and find your way out if you ever want to leave.
No instructions, no control explanations.
Just exploration.
Good Luck.

P.S. You must leave your comfort zone.

Sorry for the delay, was working on another project before I realized it was jam time.

After Life

A pretentious, story based game, where I pretend I know how to write, and I pretend I know how to draw.

I have to warn you that yes, the game contains blood, and you may find some of the images disturbing, so if this doesn't sound like you, don't try it.
(if it gets too much, esc is instant exit )

I sort of failed with time and couldn't finish it, but I have what I have here. Maybe spending hours on an options menu was a bad idea. It's like Diablo and the Binding of Isaac.

My game is done!

Lab Rats

Use your mouse to interact with the game. There is a help button in game to tell you what to do.

Lab Rats is a simple puzzle game where you try to get the rat to the cheese.

I included both the handicap and the theme. I would post a HTML5 link, but the game is kind of broken in HTML5 so the .zip will have to do.

I hope you like it :D

RagBalance is a physics-based game where you must control yourself/yourvehicle to get past dangers and beat the levels.

the game is unfinished and has been made in 6 hours because I didn't noticed the contest earlier

still, you can judge me that's all I want when I try with something that unfinished

thank you for trying my game and don't hesitate to leave feedback

Hi guys! Im here with a release of my new game for the GMC Jam #9! Its Called

The Ultra Mad Science Lab Jam Party (with no humans)

Anyway, its a 3D game in which you must move around with the mouse, adding chemicals into the experiment capsule as quick as you can without letting time go out. The more chemicals inserted, extra time will be added. It has a crappy amateur music (made by ME) but its the best i could do. Anyway, Try it out and be blown by an epic science party that gone wrong.
PS: I havent tested it yet. If anything came out wrong, let me know. At least I tried.

My votes go to:

1. That Doggone Cat - Lolligirl and TheSnider
I'm glad I finally had the chance to play this. I loved the Paper Mario-styled 3D visuals. I also loved the use of animals! Very few games nowadays use an entire character cast with just animals. The music was very soothing and dare I say.. cute as was everything else in this game! This is my favorite game of the Jam!

2. Microscope Madness by Nocturne
I loved this game. The game play actually wasn't what won me over, but the theme you used and the polished visuals. While I did enjoy the game play, the use of the theme completely won me over. Like I said for Virusect is true here. Good job, Nocturne!

3. VIRUSECT - Pixelade
Brilliant game. This is probably how I would have done my own game if I had participated in the Jam. These were germs/bacteria and stuff right? It was very polished and fun nonetheless. Although I guess there could have been a bit more variety in colors between the "germs/viruses/bacteria/etc." or "insects".

4. Lyssandra and the Amplegores - NAL
Polished and fun action game. The story made almost no sense with the actual game play but that is fine. I liked the ample supply of firearms and all of the visual effects. Jumping was a bit chaotic though.

5. Spare Parts - chance
I want to say this game is better this time around, because there is a bit more to actually do I think since the last game (Runaway Carriage was it?) Your last game was very similar. However, I couldn't even get passed the level after the "shop". Once I hit the light bulb, I could never get back up. I tried and tried. I still thought it was very neat and applaud you for sticking with the puzzle genre.

6. Spidescape - Dangerous_Dave
I loved the idea. If it was executed better and better polished this could have been my favorite game. I am still wondering how you actually made the spider work that way. It was very nifty.

Best Use Of Theme - Microscope Madness (best theme for "Science Gone Wrong"!)
Best Use Of Handicap - Spare Parts (Robots are in some ways, the opposites of humans, but also similar! I felt it was awesome to use cyborgs. Just my thoughts.)
Best Presentation -That Doggone Cat (Great 3D visuals!)
Best Devblog - dadio (because he needed at least one spot and I actually thought his first screenshot in his devblog was going to be an entirely different game then his final product..)

I am now done voting! Good job everyone!
I am still playing games so my thoughts may change on some games. By the way, all of you who have YoYoGames Sandbox links, they do not work! Please fix them so I can play!

I get this error:

Sorry. We cannot find the game file you specified. Please try again later.

GameDevDan's votes n' reviews
Votes may change, just putting some up now in case I don't finish reviews. You may also notice they don't match in order with the scores. Sometimes I score a game really high because it's well polished or whatever, but I still liked another game more. So sue me.

EDIT: I have played all the games... editing all those review images just takes way too long... probably won't finish them.

1. THAT DOGGONE CAT - TheSnidr & Lolligirl
2. CODE GUILLOTINE - ChessMasterRiley

Best Use Of Theme - Undecided
Best Use Of Handicap - N/A
Best Presentation - THAT DOGGONE CAT by TheSnidr & Lolligirl
Best Devblog - Undecided (Though I'm leaning towards Dadio)

I'm going to try and review each game (Thanks Newkill for the list), with a sentence and a rating out of 3 stars.

Rating System:
1 Star -> You entered something, Neat!
2 Stars -> Game is complete and makes use of theme + handicap.
3 Stars -> This game is special.

My votes go to
CIRCLE17 - Lune
CODE GUILLOTINE - ChessMasterRiley
Best Use Of Theme - SAVE THE WORLD by funnysoft
Best Use Of Handicap - I dont believe this makes any sense as its just "no humans", so I will not vote for this part.
Best Presentation - THAT DOGGONE CAT by TheSnidr & Lolligirl
Best Devblog - SCIENCE FOR BLOBBIES by 11clock

Here are all 78 jam games harshly judged out of 100 based on personal first-impressions only. Note that my own game only scores 52. These scores do not represent the true value of the game overall, only how well I think it captures you within a few minutes of starting. Total time taken for these reviews: 13 hours.

If your game wasn't on that list, check here.
Games that didn't work:

If your game wasn't there either, PM me, cause I forgot your game! :o

This is my first time reviewing every game, so I'm probably not going to give the best reviews, and I'm keeping them pretty short, so bare with me.

50+ = Great jam game
<42.5> = Average
<35 = Needs work

A truly spectacular tale worth experiencing at least twice. A grand spectacle. I only wish it was finished!

I'll be damned if I didn't play this game more than my own. Damn fine job. The weapon variety was spectacular and the feedback was fantastic.

My votes go to:

1st -- Circle17 (by Lune)
2nd -- Vital Spark (by Oracizan)
3rd-- Bioweapon Ursula (by Saijee)

4th -- Roomba Lab (by DanRedux)
5th -- Code Guillotine (by ChessMasterRiley)
6th-- Ragabalance (by Boudoudou)

Best Use of Theme -- no vote
Best Use of Handicap -- BioWeapon Ursula (by Saijee)
Best Presentation -- Paradigm (by Diptoman)

Best Devblog -- no vote

The votes were a difficult choice, because all six games I rated >90 were excellent. The top three choices came down to secondary issues such as use of theme, re-play value, visual presentation etc. So in addition to those winners, I gave honorable mention (4th, 5th and 6th place) to the remaining three. But the choice for "Best Use of Handicap" was easy. Not only did Saijee's game not use any humanoids... it didn't even use creatures found in Nature! Likewise, Diptoman's game presentation was superb, and quite professional looking -- so it was an easy choice of "Best Presentation". (I omitted my vote for "Best Use of Theme" because I didn't really see anything that innovative.)

I've also chosen some games for special recognition in selected categories:

Best Use of GM Physics
This award is shared by Boudoudou for his game Ragabalance, and by DanRedux for Roomba Lab.

Most Innovative Movement Mechanics
Again, a tie between Circle17 by Lune, and Adventures of Chuck by LandofGames -- two games where regurgitation plays a role in character movement. (Let's pray they don't extend this idea to other bodily effluents.)

Best Use of Narrative
Another tie -- this time between Oracizan for his thought provoking written narrative in Vital Spark, and DXsmiley for his humorous verbal narrative in Nine Two.

Final Votes
1st place: Code Guiollotine- Chessmasterriley [58/62]
2nd place: Vital Spark – Oracizan [57/62]
3rd place: Near Life expériance - Supamaster004 [56/62]

4th place: That Doggone Cat - Lolligirl & TheSnidr [53/62]
5th place: Lyssandra And The Amplegores – NAL [50/62]
6th place: Chemical eruptions and bunny consternations - Nikgames [50/62]
7th place: The Music - Snail_Man [49/62]
8th place: Virusect - Pixelade [49/62]
9th place: Shattered Whirr - Yal [49/62]
10th place: Blobs vs Robots - TheLegend [48/62]

I'm going to make the reviews in a bit of an unorthodox way: Firstly; I'll take a random order of games. secondly, my scale reads 0-62; where 62 is the perfect game and 0 is... well, 0 (if you want a 0-100 scale instead take the outcome and multiply it with 1.612. it should be around the correct value.)
The reviews are short and are split into:
First impression [10], music/sounds[10], game play[10], graphics[10], theme[1], handicap[1], fun/addictive value [10] and finally my personal opinion [10]. If 2 games score the same the personal opinion will be the decisive factor.
Color Coding:Black games are those I have not yet played. Green games are games I played and have given votes. Red games are game that for some reason where unplayable and I could not give votes. Yellow games are games That used to be red but worked on my other computer and I have played and given votes to.

( IF you think something I say or do is wrong, I left something out or I was not accurate on your game, do PM me.)

This smiley is a witness on how often I edit this post.
:medieval:/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/> />/>/>/>/>

The Crash list: These are the games that crashed on my computer, and as such got no points (marked with red on the review list). I'll try them later on on my other computer and If they work there I'll give them a review and change the color to yellow. If not then They will stay red and get 0 points.

1 Near Life Experience
2 Circle17
3 Invasion
4 Spare Parts
5 Space Pencil
6 Space Chase

A Shot In The Dark:
-First Impression: Everything seems clean and simple, but I can't help but say that it was difficult for me to tell what was going on graphically and the audio didn't help indicate much. What I mean to say that it was hard to see the enemy bullets past my own wave of equally bright fire. And I didn't ever know when I got hit, until later on I would look up at the top to see that one ship is down. It would be nice if it were a little more clear.
-As said before, readability was my main problem with this game. Otherwise most of the times I died was that the enemy bullets were hard for me to outrun, even when in fast mode.

A Strange Colorful World
-First Impression: It was hard for me to play this game in many ways. The graphics are very full, and hurt my eyes, the sound track is a little better, but I had to set the volume to low.
-I was not sure what I was supposed to do, and I got stock after collecting both the things on either end of the red world.

-First Impression: I first want to say that I have a bias against games where the cardinal directions move the character in diagonals. That being said, it was hard for me to maneuver.
-Not much to this game. I really don't have anything else to say.

Worm Virus: It didn't seem like that bad of an idea, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do.
I always die at the same spot and honestly have no idea what's killing me, because I die with 100 hearts.

A Tale of Two
-First Impression: I can't read this. It seems to be a text based game, but I can't read it. It doesn't help that some of the text is upside down.
-I didn't understand this game. And hardly could grasp the concept of how to play it.

Adventure of Chuck:
-First Impression: I like the music!
-For me the music was the strongest part, it was what kept me playing, although of the games I've played so far, this is by far the funnest, current favorite. But once I got the moon I got this error: ERROR: The polygon shape for fixture 26087 is concave or ordered anti-clockwise

Vital Spark:
-First Impression: I really like the idea of this game, the atmospheric music, the idea that your lost and exploring and finding clues. It's all very metroid like.
-But It all falls short because I got stuck after the blue face said that he didn't want me to get out. I looked around for like 10 minutes and didn't have a clue how to advance

Vision Pill
-First Impression: LOVE THE MUSIC
-Very original look, and a great use of storytelling. Even uses theme and handicap well. New Favorite!

After Life
-Point and click story. On the basis that it's all about the story, I was not able to connect to the characters that well. Since I couldn't do that, I can't say that this was particularly interesting of a game.

-You gotta love that voice acting! But seriously of all the games I've played so far, this is my new favorite. If there are anything that I could nit-pick at, it would be that it would be nice for some variation in the sound track, and It would have been really cool if there was an attack animation.

Steam of Blood
- This game is great, nice music, fun gameplay, and it thickens with the use of power ups! Definitely worth calling my new favorite!

Antibody Annihilation
- It was good fun, and fair use of the theme and handicap. I liked this game, Honestly not much to say about it on the basis of what it is, but it was fun.

Attack of the Infestation
-I couldn't actually play this game for long, it got increasingly laggy. But from what I could tell from the beguining, is that it was fun and graphically crisp. I do wish I could have seen more than 3 minutes in though.

Spare Parts
-This was nice, it was hard to beat (for me, not good at these types of games) but fun to play, kept me trying over and over again and not ever getting mad, kudos for that! Even so, I will say that the hardest level for me was the first one. Cute exposition, cute graphics. Fun game. New Favorite

Space Pencil
- From the get go I thought it was funny, and then fun to play. It took me about 10 seconds to smile after recognizing the tune. me after like a minute in playing : "♫Do you think your better off alone♫" followed by the destruction of my rocket. This game made me smile!

Back to earth
- I have been trying to figure out this game, but the controls don't seem to work for me. He doesn't go to the right. and gets stuck in the wall. But good try.

Beet the Trees
- Not bad, but here were some of the things I found awkward: You can outrun your bullets. I feel the game would have been funner if your firing interval was slightly smaller.

Space Chase
- Its like Space Pencil's 3D cousin! Not sure if this was intended but I can't go in diagonal directions unless I press the two directions at different times. Nevertheless fun game with likeable graphics.

Bioweapon Ursala

-Looks nice, but a big problem I had was that I didn't even have to have my hand at the keys for the most part to get a score over 500. Kinda made me bored. But it looked nice!

Blobs vs Robots
-Not going to lie this game gave me a headache with all the flashys coming in and out. (This comment coming from the guy who made Bullet Life). I couldn't really tell what was going on, and more often than not the enemy would kill me the instant I respawned.

-There's nothing to this game (at the start it gave me two options, I chose the second it sounded like the funner game mode). Review over.

Just kidding! It made my computer lag alot, and the rotated screen made my head hurt, until I went into Asian-Squint mode. Fun game though. Not saying that the headache from the rotated screen was bad, because it did help make the game more immersive!

Shattered Whirr
-I actually found it easier to play with my right hand on zx and left on arrows. That being said, I think the controls were a bit awkward. Gameplay is average, found it funny that I died from touching floor (like silver surfer). Graphics are nice. Music is above average. Doesn't use them or handicap, if I'm not mistaken you didn't find out till it was too late.

Scientific Flaw
-It was an OK game, but I lost interest because I didn't find it engaging enough. How about powerups or something?

-Average game, decent gameplay, graphics and music.

-Nice art and I liked the idea of this game, but the controls were really strange. Ctrl and 1/2 force a weird hand position.

Nine Two
-It's an OK game. I had a hard time looking at the small screen. Happy that respawn was instant.

Near Life Experience
-This game is sooooooooooo cool. You said it was a story, and it is a story! I'm loving the Ace Attornyness it gives off. And those cool things like character super powers being used to mix up the gameplay. And the dialog is amazing! Love these characters! All of them! Including Fact! NEW FAVORITE.

-This is a well made game, by far the most interesting platforming game I've seen in this contest. Great puzzle game. I would say "new favorite" except that I like Near Life Experience just a little better. Sorry.

-This is one of the best looking games here! Been playing it for a while real fun!

-Hey look another quadruped! Pretty fun game. I had a hard time with the camera (might be just me, but the fact that the camera followed the cursor instead of the character threw me off).

-at position 17: Unknown variable bite

I've played all the games, but this is all the reviews I have time to right.
