Will this be supported in the future? I used to load all my sounds externally to decrease compiling time in GM8.1, so I'm wondering how much slower it would make compiling in GM:S for about 40 sounds.
I'm aware of the legacy external sound loading but I don't believe it works with the new audio engine functions.

There are no plans to add this to the new audio engine currently... GMS really should have all the sounds (and other basic assets) included with the games and external loading should only be used for very specific things.
