No no, you missed the joke. Unless Lukasmah was being silly, he probably meant this smiley.

(plus, using a roll-eyes hardly constitutes a "joke" in and of itself..so..yeah)

Good, embracing the problem is the first step to dealing with it.

I kid, but seriously, people aren't ganging up on you nor are they biased against you, and don't think that they are.

I don't think that, because I'm not 13. I do, however, notice trends. The one around Roy baffles me.

It's the prophecy from Isaiah 11 (verse 6).

*insert hearty laughter here that would make me seem really obnoxious to write out in text*
That's actually hilarious. Thanks for that.

Anime and manga is terrible...

Not trying to start anything, but that's so vague that it's like saying "Games are terrible." There is too much diversity to dislike something so general.

And yet I agree with Lukasmah. Not because anime in itself is bad, but simply because I'm seeing it everywhere. That bugs me. It just looks incredibly non-diverse and all-the-same to me (even if it isn't), and it feels like "I couldn't think of my own style". I see it so much I can't look objectively at it anymore.

I don't know if it's too late to argue about this (shame that there doesn't appear to be a 'search thread' function), but it just bothered me seeing this on the first page.
Spoiler

If you only look at the more popular anime, then the differences aren't so apparent. Their exposure might lead you to think that all anime are fairly generic. The more popular anime are usually made to cater to otaku, and this is why you might see a lot of same-faces or generic plots. But anime/manga as a whole have much more diversity.

Only about 105 pages or so. But fair point.

Just like with western culture, really.

There is.

When you are in a topic the search function, in the upper right defaults to search this topic.

....

  • The moderation staff will not be the most liked as they are not picked by the community but by the admin team and mods.
  • The people who make "good" decisions in the eyes of the community are not necessarily going to be mods as the YYG will probably try to employ mods that will indirectly make them profit (By encouraging people to buy their software), this is only a slight bias but it is still a bias.
...

Yoyogames has always stayed very far away from appointing moderators. And I doubt they wish to change this soon. When the moderating team feel it is necessary to have new blood in here, we will simply discuss all possible candidates. Untill we come to a (some) candidates that simply everyone agrees on. But as I said; yoyogames has not ever put any pressure on candidates. And I find it pretty weird thought that you think I'm here to make money for yoyogames..... Weird in that I'm not one who will shut his mouth when I have critique on an organization, I do not fit the "PR guy" type very well. Offensive in the sense that you almost imply I'm a puppet from yoyogames - I'm not.

I know this argument was pretty dead and taking old cows out of the river and similar... Though I do wish to clear above up: yoyogames has no influence over the choice of mods, nor do we act for yoyogames.

I had wrongly assumed that the members of the admin staff whom would like Yoyogames to do well were making the decisions. And it's a matter of the scale of the bias, I'm not saying that it's big. I'm not even saying it's necessarily there. But it's a point that could potentially be made by someone and I was trying to cover all possible points that could be made by people as a way of ensuring logical discussion. Don't assume that just because I acknowledge a point that could be made it means I support it, especially when it is plain to see I am trying to cover all the pros and cons and I conclude something that conflicts that point anyway. Apparently people have got so used to arguments they have forgotten what discussion is.

I view the purpose of this forum as a way to help people get the most out of Game Maker and to hook potential buyers. Call me cynical, but any other positive things are in my opinion just side effects of trying to reach this goal. There is a potential that YYG are doing this for the sake of charity, but I find it much more likely that this forum was built and is sustained because the staff think (quite rightly) that it will result in more sales. Happy users = Better public image = More sales, let's not forget.

I'm not saying you have to agree with that opinion, but that is what I believe. And don't think that my opinion that this forum exists as a way to get money is me somehow saying YYG are evil. I mean, if they make money through making their users happy, that doesn't strike me as a bad thing. And all the other companies do it too anyway. :P
