I was thinking: we have all these ideas on how to make Game Maker a little better, but no way to implement them except this forum section. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to write little snippets of code that change the way GM works?
That's my long-term suggestion: Enable users to create and install plugins that can alter certain features of Game Maker at runtime, sort of like Eclipse's plugin system.
Now, I realize that this is a huge concept and difficult to implement, but I think it would be well worth it. Then, when someone thinks that, say, scripts should be draggable into object events, that someone can open up Java or whatever language and make it so.
Like I said, this is a huge burden on the YYG devs, but I just want to see if there's much support amongst the community for something like this.
[GM] Plugin System

This is, indeed a great idea, but due the fact GMS is still written in delphi, i'm not sure if its worth the effort to the YYG guys.
It may be a possibility for GM:Next tho!

I've been thinking a lot about this sort of thing myself too. I would love it.
At some point I believe they're gonna write GM:Studio in C# instead of delphi (I thought they started it in C#, but reading Manuel's post, apparently not), which would - if they can make it - allow C# plug-ins. I would absolutely love it. I do believe I wrote this suggestion somewhere as well - to allow C# plug-ins.
I can imagine an IM plug-in that connects everyone with GM:Studio open would be VERY useful and amusing.

Sound cool. But like you said, very difficult to implement.

Heh, I suggested this thing too, about 2 years ago. I suppose it would be rather hard to implement it though, and it's not even sure that people would use the feature. It would be nice, though.I do believe I wrote this suggestion somewhere as well

I would definitely use it. Make myself a little GM:Studio audio player, so I don't have to switch windows every time I want to change the track - of course it'll find lyrics too!
So they can expect a few plugins from me if they ever made this
