Hello! I've finished my first Game Maker: Studio game. This was my get-to-know-GML project for the last two weeks, and here it is - finished but not completely without some cosmetic issues left. It's a bit short, as well. Play time depends on how deep you decide to look into the hidden areas.

Gameplay:

The game is about grabbing/throwing stuff. Some of these things give you abilities, like less gravity or a super jump. Enemies are gotten rid of by throwing them at walls or into each other. The actual goal of each level is saving a bunch of weirdos and getting through each level. There are a few coins in each level which can be spent on additional health or other things. Each level (except the very first town) has secret areas to explore. The difficulty ramps up a bit near the end.

The game can be saved at save points. It saves automatically on the world map. At the very beginning, go right to get to the world map.

Controls: Arrow keys, Space & Alt or A and S. Esc for main menu/exiting

Game Data:

Type: Platformer with exploratory elements
GM version: GM:S
Resolution: 300x200 upscaled to 600x400 when windowed
File Size: 11 Mb
Fullscreen: Alt+Enter
Music: MP3
FPS: 60
Max FPS on my laptop: ~300

Or grab it on my site: origamihero.com

I think most bugs have been eradicated, but should you find some, please tell me. I usually miss some of them when playtesting by myself.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing! The main inspiration for the game was Klonoa, a PS1 game I used to have.

I've made an adventure game engine in GM:S, so there should be something coming out of that in the next few weeks. Sierra's Quest games were great indeed. Since you like adventures, check out http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/, lots of freeware adventures on there. See the forums for new releases.

I've also added joystick support to the game. Just redownload and reinstall (or copy/overwrite if you got the ZIP one). The save file will remain intact.
