I and three partners of mine are developing a game for "SQUARE ENIX Latin America Game Contest 2012", a game development contest which gives prizes for the winners and all. We urgently need a 2D Artist & Animator for our project, as we don't have enough people yet.
The game will be a rhythmic adventure that is going to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1950. The main character is going to be an unnamed musician that plays Bossa Nova songs. During the game his career will grow up to a national level. However, at the same time the musician will have to deal with several conflicts that could threaten his career. It is the player's job to decide what does the musician need to focus: his career or his relationships.
In the adventure part of the game the players will be able to walk through Rio de Janeiro's locations and interact to other people.
In the rhythm mode, the players will have to play the musicians' concerts (which will last about one music per concert). During the musics, the player will be presented to a chronicle. During these chronicles, the music will influentiate one of the characters and the player will be able to choose his actions, based on the concert's performance and rhythm combinations.
There's a lot more to say about the mechanics and stories, but I think this is enough to begin with.
The plan is to make a 15~20 minute demo of the game and submit it to Square Enix's contest website. The deadline is August 31, and that's why we urgently need someone to help us with this project. The game will be submitted as an Android application made with GameMaker Studio Android. We already have two artists/animators, but we think it's not enough yet. If we win one of the prizes, the profits will be shared depending on how much effort you put on the project.
Also, it is our intention to send it to another contest, called Brazilian International Game Festival and maybe release the game for Android devices once we have an up & running company.
