Yay fortress mode!

My first thought is, is the fire too powerful?
Burns through iron and stone like it was nothing, same rate as the wood... maybe set different rates of burning for each material if possible?
Surely iron shouldnt burn as fast as wood (if at all).

More weapons for fortress mode?
My tactic is simply to stay in the fortress, but if I do that, then I only have the rockets to use without leaving the fortress.

Perhaps more weapons that can be used via mouse clicks from the start or perhaps given as rewards every 10 or 20 turns?

Also, whats the point of the landmines in fortress? I've played through fortress mode quite a few times, and never found a use for them...
I've put them almost on top of enemies, but the ai never moves so they never trigger them.

I've managed to shoot the landmines and trigger them myself, but I tend to just hide in my fort and not attack in this gamemode, so I rarely do that...

One last thing, the 'Start the battle!' text is hard to read/locate, perhaps its just me, but maybe it could be changed to a graphic or put one of the wood panels behind it to make it stand out abit more?

I may be sounding abit nit-picky etc here, but I actually love this game, just thought i'd give some crits on the new mode.

These are all really good suggestions.. I was abit unsatisfied with fortress mode as it stands so hopefully implementing these will improve the gameplay in that mode.
Any thoughts on the secret weapons / the difficulty (or ease) of earning funds?

I think there could perhaps be more ways to earn money or price reductions/more money earned.
I played for half an hour - 1 hour and only earned enough to buy a few weapons.

On one hand, it makes people play more to earn more weapons, on the other its abit frustrating having to play so long to earn the weapon you want.
Bit of a double edged sword really.

I think for the fortress mode, more ways to defend yourself would be great (weapons, building blocks) and keep me playing it.
At the moment, its sort of build a fort and skip turns until a hole is blown forcing you to come out, not too fun or tactical.

But it depends on how much you want to do, fortress mode could essentially be a whole new game when you think of the amount of stuff that could be implemented.

Oh and a glitch/bug i've noticed...

On fortress mode, a block (stonewall, iron) will randomly place to the left of my fort on most play throughs.
It doesnt seem to cost me anything, it just randomly spawns.

Edit: This could possibly be due to me clicking a block, then deciding to change for something else. Me going to click on the menu would then place the block behind the menu.

Still, its annoying if youre indecisive like me :P

Maybe you should buy ammo before each round, and use money for that.(basic weapon has infinite ammo)

Waddaya think?

Something like this could work.

Do you only get money if you beat your previous score in fortress?
If so, I dont like that system

Thanks guys for the comments and ideas

@Lukasmah
This idea crossed my mind, (i'm thinking of tank wars here) - one way to do it would be to give each term a permanent weapon list, which is depleted with use and is never repleted automatically (save for a few basic infinite weapons)- and like you say the money can be used as it is earned to buy weapons.

@Scott

Money is earned as soon as you have survived 10 turns or more, and then the amount increases at a growing rate for every turn survived after that - so the longer you survive, the more money you earn per turn of survival (regardless of what your personal best is)

Here's the formula if anyone is curious (i'm always open to alternative solutions though) :)
Spoiler

And yes the randomly spawning walls is due to your indecisiveness haha :P just kidding that happened to me, yet it didn't cross my mind that there would be other people indecisively building their forts like me (will fix that!)

I thought that might be the case.
I get 40+ turns every game, but sometimes I dont earn anything...

Edit: Just played a fortress game, lasted 52 rounds and the only cash I got was $10 for an achievement.

Edit 2: Just lasted 72 rounds, which is my new high score and recieved money.
Seems to me im only getting paid for beating scores, is it just me experiencing this?

That's really bizarre. I think I might know what the problem is though!

And a general announcement on the game, I will upload a final version tonight (as I won't have any more time in the foreseeable future to continue working on it) - but nonetheless I will come back to the project from time to time in the future and make some good challenges for the game.
