That's an interesting article. Amazing how an error flag became such a cult hit. Pokemon players would go out of their way to find him, even knowing it might mess up their game.

A long time ago a Mew appeared in the Hall of Fame because of MissingNo.. Which seemed really cool at the time, because this was before the Mew glitch was discovered and there was no way to even see a Mew in-game without GameShark / Game Genie (besides obtaining one from a Nintendo event... which by coincedence, this happened to me in the car heading to one such event)

Ohh I remember this one. Playing Pokémon Blue or Red, you had to talk to the guy in the 8th gym city who shows you how to catch a pokémon, then use "Surf" in the east coast of the 7th gym island.
Surfing up and down the coast, you were bound to meet MissingNo. several times. It was a great way to copy Master Balls and Rare Candy!
I also recall you being able to meet MissingNo.'s in all levels, but usually it would be above level 100 or level 0. If you leveled it up and it was over level 100 when you caught it, it would become level 0.

I never experienced any of the glitches it's said to cause myself... I just copied the hell out of Master Balls and Rare Candy!

I do recall you could also copy Pokémon and the item one's holding in the later Gold and Silver versions, by using Bill's PC...
