Game Maker failing

5 minutes later I open up taskmanager and I see that it has taken up 65 mb of memory and it still hasn't opened a window yet.
What the heck is going on?
I have the latest .net framework. And Game Maker has worked in the past.

Now when I start GameMaker, it'll hang in my process list in the task manager slowly accumulating memory, but the window itself never shows up. It won't run even after I restarted my computer. I'm at a loss for what to do next - anyone have any suggestions?
Goes without saying I think that I was in the middle of a project when GameMaker decided to up and not work on me. Unless I've got a fix soon, my only alternative is to use GameMaker on a machine where this hasn't happened yet, which would be a little inconvenient for me.

What you could try to do is re-installing it? Maybe you deleted some files by accident.

Have you tried waiting for it to start up? For me, it sometimes takes several minutes before anything appears.
I know that sometimes I have to wait before it comes up, and I have no problem with that. However, it's been at least 15 minutes and it's not coming up.
Yeah that's true. Same with me. Sometimes it'll take a while to load. But if you're using Windows 7, even while it's not appearing and still loading you should see the application's icon in the task bar. If you don't, then it's definitely not working.

Would reinstalling it remove my registration with the program? And yes, I am using Windows 7, and yes, I do see the icon in my task bar, but no dice.

As in, I launched the program and I didn't expect the UI to appear, just stalling as it had been, but it did actually come up. I did what I did before, closing it and relaunching it, and it's launching just as it should. I didn't do anything!
That's fine and dandy and all, but I'd still like to know why it happened to begin with, especially if a more permanent version of the problem occurs to somebody else.

I have a feeling this is to do with the YoYo games server and licence verification... If it happens again, either be patient or try disabling the router, starting GM and then enabling it again. if it is a server problem, then the lack of a connection will skip the licence check and should start GM without problems.
That makes sense, and I'll definitely give that a try next time this problem occurs.
Thank you all for your suggestions and willingness to assist me.

Did you try that?

(An error box pops up after long pause and says: The following tags were not closed: plist, dict, array. Line 0.)
Disconnecting from Internet allows GM to start normally.

Excellent. Thanks for letting me know!Same problem.
Disconnecting from Internet allows GM to start normally.
This is a transient problem and should soon be fixed, but it's nice to know that there is still a way to continue using GM until it's resolved.

Popping in again to say that this was an error message that popped up when I tried running GM as an administrator before my problem solved itself, though I don't think running it as an administrator caused it itself.
Thanks for the solution Nocturne! And thanks for making the topic KitaoL, I would've wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work.
You're welcome, and I'm glad I did - I tried looking everywhere else for a solution first and when I didn't find one, I made this topic. Happy it helped so many other people!
