Hungry Hamster is a little platformer that stars a dwarf hamster. You must complete all 3 levels to win. But watch out! Bears are guarding platforms and they cannot be stopped! The multi-coloured platforms will disappear after 2 seconds! Be sure this little fuzzball of a hamster doesn't fall off the edge of the platforms either!

Game Name:Hungry Hamster

I think your "hungry hamster" needs to put on a few pounds. The game works alright... but there's just not much game play. The graphics are too simplistic -- especially the character itself. And the platform graphics look like thousands of other games.

And that repeating music... just keeps repeating.... over and over. argh....

You can make this a lot better with some effort, so don't give up. Just put some work into thinking about some original game play ideas, add more imaginative monsters, and draw better graphics and sounds.

haha... you got me there. I meant to say "draw better graphics and add better sounds."

Anyway... I hope you're still working on this. With some effort, this has potential.

I am pretty new at this stuff too. I have found that what works for me is developing a style. At first it was all about using assets (graphics and sounds) from other works. While this approach requires less work in the short term, the long term may end up being an issue.

For example, just looking at the second screenshot, the coin has a black border on it much like a Mario bros coin, the floor tiles are simple two color patterns with visible pixels, and the background lots of detail with complex colors. That is three different kinds of style on screen at once which do not seem to mesh well together.

You presumably drew your own character and tileset, try making some background item instead of a clip art skyline. Having a consistent style will likely look better than mismatching high quality graphics.

Good luck.
