Recently I have been working on a game called 'The Island' as a school project. I have been really enjoying it and have got down to the very early version of 0.3. I have enabled this version for download. Find out more about the game when you play it. Any tip's from you guy's would be great. Download at http://www.mediafire...zvkyhb4j4fb9c6j

indeed, this must be one of your first games as I can see a few novice mistakes.
1. your character is quite wide. making it thinner helps the player with jumping through narrow spots.
2. your character can stand on the rounded corners of blocks. this isn't always a good thing, and definitely isn't in this game.
to fix this, go into the block's sprite and uncheck precise collision checking.
3. the character has a fixed speed which just makes the game feel very generic. add a friction and lessen the movement speed
4. the coins to collect are quite small and don't appeal to the player. having a bigger and better sprite will help lure the player in.
5. you have a couple coins over some spikes, which is perfectly fine except for in this case, the platform is right above that and makes it nearly impossible to get them.
practice level design by making the player jump through a maze of platforms and obstacles in order to gather all of the coins.
also if you make the goal of the game so they HAVE to gather all of the coins, it gives them more of a challenge than just reaching the end portal while not having to care about any of the coins.
6. finally, if you're worried that there's not enough action in the game and you feel like you need to add enemies, don't worry about it.
this is a simple arcade style game and enemies aren't required, especially if you're still new at making games. enemy AI can be a big challenge and unless done correctly, makes the game worse than it was without enemies.

good luck with your game!

hey guy I also would like to say when you die, your score does not reset and enables the player to keep growing the score... sometimes it resets to 1700 but not lower.

other than that not bad as all for your first game
