You could make this. But since you're a beginner I don't think it'll be easy for you.
Never expected it to be mate - I just wanted to know if it was within the scope of the gamemaker software before I started to put the time into it. Thanks for the reply

Breaking it down like this, there isn't too much to learn, and everything you learn in a project such as this would lay some solid foundations if you decided to create anything else using GM. I would definately advise giving it a go, but break it down step by step, and if you get stuck on a particular problem, then you could always ask for some help with that problem in the Questions and Answers Forum. Good luck

It is certainly possible to make a darts scoreboard in GM. If you have no previous experiance using GM, then what you are looking to do here is accept user input (in the form of numbers mostly, but you may want an input of names also, so this would require the input of strings); storing variables for various things (such as score, darts thrown, etc); you could include game time as well, and of course you will need to learn how to draw all this infomation on screen.

Hi folks - I am an absolute beginner at this so please bare with me. I would like to create a dart scoreboard (of all things!) It would need 2 sides (a la tradional darts scoreboard) and 2 players would be able to take it in turns to enter scores. Ideally it would be able to record how many darts were used in a 501 leg and what average was achieved during that leg. Looking at game maker it seems to be primarily for the creation of shooters and scenario type games - so before I put in the hours to work out how to do this I just wondered if some more experienced members could tell me if this was 'a goer' in the first place??
Thanks in advance for any answers
Sounds... difficult. Usually I get an idea but, this is too difficult.

I have ordered The Game Makers Apprentice.
That was the book I started with, and can definitely recommend that one along with it's sequel, The Game Maker's Companion

Actually the gears are turning. I could make a scoreboard. As for darts and target, I have no clue. If you make the darts I will send instructions for the rest.
Do not waste your money. If you read enough of the help file you can figure out a problem usually.
