SLO is a stick plat-former Online game. The Objective of the game is to master your class, and reach the highest level, in addition to exploring quests and fighting other players and boss monsters.

Stick Legends has been progressing for a number of months now and has reached the point where we have a number of features for the player to use and interact with, so we would love to get some players. :medieval:

We have a server that is up 24/7 for your enjoyment.

Nice game ... hope this project will continue

However ... I can't login into my account again , it says I'm already connected . I somehow entered in the map , in the ground ... they I fell off and program crashed :\
Notice that even gold coins can stuck in the ground and can't pick them up.

The game runs a bit slow on my computer at times, whereas almost all other GM games run fine. I understand that having the online component might be a bit heavy, but you might want to optimise the game (if possible) to allow people with a bit older machines to play it.

I also felt that the attacking was a bit clumsy at first, when you had only kicks as your weapon. By clumsy, I mean that the range of the attack is short and the attack takes a while to complete, leaving you vulnerable for enemy attacks during this time. And if I try to continuously duck and kick, I have to press down again (can't just hold it down) to make the player duck again.

Out of curiosity, are there abilties that help you dodge enemy attacks better, like back-step / back-dash (Castlevania-style)?

Falling off the ground is odd... The log out bug that leaves you logged in we are aware of and I'm searching for a fix in the server. Hope to have that patched up ASAP.

@Koaske - The range of the attack I was pondering whether I should make the attacking mask larger... I think I will. Oh... and crouching was a feature that we added for show, it doesn't have combat effects. However, if you press C to block, that will reduce the damage taken, though it also does less damage. Blocking can be quite strong though if you have a high strength value, since the damage you deal would be higher even reduced.

So i played it a bit. Reminds me of Stick Online, quite nice.
So here's a quick list of things that gotta be fixed. I know it's an alpha, but it's just to remind you in case you forget or don't notice em.
- teh sound is kinda derpy. It comes from nowhere (later i figured it was a guy hitting a bird about 1000 units from me) and abruptly stops when the other sound is played. Limit the sound distance, like if distance_to_object(obj_player_self) < 640 {sound_play();}, or use true positional sound;
- i don't quite get the combat system: if you attack a monster, it instantly attacks you back, so you can't really dodge or stuff?
- monsters' animations are often not synchronized with their movements, especially the squirrel. Don't send image_index and sprite_index with their position, make the client calculate it, like if you just send x and y, calculate it from x - xprevious, or if you send the speeds/commands also, that's even simpler;
- the damage numbers are often out of byte range, so they appear as '255' or '254'. You can't send negative values using writebyte(), it's unsigned.
And i thought 'dexterity' and 'agility' were the same thing.
The map is pretty well drawn, but is kinda empty, so you'd either add more mobs/more kinds of mobs in the future or add something else to do, like farming or quests or wutever.
Oh, and also the sun isn't catching up with the view.

Thanks for the comment about the damage values, I thought there was something odd about it always being 255 when it did that.

Yeah, agressive monsters were planned from the start, but the way I had done it for testing was that if you hit it, it would hit you. Now that things are more stable I can get back to the plan hopefully.

Agility increases your jump height, and walking speed. Dexterity decreases the damage that monsters deal to you. I need to add a display when the cursor goes over a stat showing what it does. Also would like to do a similiar type of thing in the shops to show item stats before you purchase them.

Working on a quest system, hope to have some info on that soon.

Adding a Ping (Latency) test today so players can see what their ping is.
I will be patching holes in the map where players seem to fall out.
If I have time I'll make the server save all players stats every few minutes and make it kick players if they are away for too long (This will fix the bug where players can't log back in if the server glitches)

I can't help but to imagine that Stick Online was the cause some inspiration for this game. Hope the game works out.

Hmm, another GMC MMORPG attemt (waits for hackers to join in).
So by saying that, I hope you guys have a good security, everything server sided and stuff.
I couldn't play though, the server was down...

Sorry about the server dylan, we've had a lot of storms come through the mid US and east coast recently and our host didn't have any power for part of today, not sure when the servers will be back online.

No game is completely hacker proof, but we have already server-sided a good chunk of our important variables and code, and will continue to work on any additional areas that need to be addressed.

Well guys I haven't heard from our host yet.... lol. So here's what I'm going to do, I have a Windows XP desktop in my room that I'm going to try to boot up and see if I can run the server on. Brad was doing a lot of server work and now has autosaving in, in addition to a feature that should kick you if you lose your connection to the server. I will look into adding the two additional weapons and then the NPC dialouges. Holes in the ground that players have been falling through were also patched up.

Wth are you talking about? So you're saying all 2D platformers look like terraria?

Anyways, server is down at the moment, but the game looks quite cool. People have been complaining for quite a while, has the server been down for all this time? And I can't believe people still remember Stick Online after all this time :P Haven't played the game yet, but yeah, it looks like it was inspired a lot by Stick Online.

I know. The only similarity with terraria is the fact that both are 2D platformers, so that's why I said that.
