I've been trying to learn how to use object depth and the tutorial I've been using tells me to use "Modify mask", but I don't see it. Where is it?

Double-click on any sprite. The second column in the window that will pop up contains a button that says "Modify Mask". I have no idea how this is related to object depth, though, as that is being controlled by the "Depth" field in the object properties and has absolutely nothing to do with sprites.

What he said!^^

Unless you mean the mask of an object. To get that, start editing any object, and right on top of the <Object Information> button there's a <Mask> box, press on that and change the mask.

Eh... silly me, didn't notice that this was in the Mac forum until now. The "Modify Mask" option was added in GM 8.1, that's why you don't see it.
Back in GM7 (and therefore, GM4Mac), the only things comparable to this which you get inside the IDE are the "Bounding Box" settings. They're at the same position as "Modify Mask". What exactly do you need the "Modify Mask" for? If you tell me that, (hopefully) I can tell you what you can do to achieve the desired effect in your GM version.

What he said!^^

On a side note, I'm female. :)
