Hi-Lo is a simple game that is highly polished and visually appealing, where players must guess whether the next card is of a higher or lower value than the current one. Everything is presented through a beautiful, streamlined interface.

It can be played here: http://bit.ly/HI--LO

This game is designed for mobile, but can be played on PC too. What do you guys think? :)

Total development time was around 9 hours.

I played the game on PC using Chrome. I found it very smooth and professional looking and am surprised it took only 9 hours to make. Clearly it is a very basic game but done well and I'll be very interested to hear if it makes you enough money to justify more simple games.

It's well made, and made me think is this where the future of pre-drinking games is going: from cards to device?! Anyway, thinking along these lines, the slight time delay between pressing hi or lo with the card sliding into position is smooth and all, but I reckon an option to reveal the next card instantly may just be a nice little touch

Ooooooh, pretty, I love the graphics. What bugs me though, is whenever i lose (which is always, ive only guessed one card correct) it seems to reload the game again which i find irritating.

This is actually required because the current version of GM has significant bugs with persistent rooms, which I have to use for a different function. I don't exactly like this workaround either, but I have to for now. I will fix it when GM fixes persistent rooms :)

Haven't heard of this type of game earlier, but seems very much chance-based, while leaving a definitive answer for all cases.
Got 13040 on first and last try, didn't see a great point on continuing.
Found font used confusing - while good for pixelly games, usage of 5x5 block letters does not seem to be well-justified here, in company with other nice-looking graphics.
I don't think that many fill favour trick with refresh - not only it causes a visual 'blink', but due to generated HTML it actually causes game to be re-downloaded every single time. This means that player might spend time to wait for game to re-load, if connection is working slowly (i.e. far from WiFi access point), and hosting website gets additional bandwidth multiplier out of thin air. Hopefully this shall get resolved soon.

This is my post #3000. I have planned to use it for something else, but I think this'll work too. Have luck, or whatever is associated with this fairly large number.

That's the second mention of the font I've seen, but personally I don't think it's out of place or difficult to read. I'll have to see if any publishers have an issue with it.

Yeah, I realize the implications of using that method, they're not nice. I've actually managed to work something else out to fix the flaw in GM so it's a lot more seamless now - much better. Uploaded a new version with that improvement.

Haha, thank you, I appreciate the comments :)

Not much in terms of strategy, but very attractive visually.

At first, I didn't know whether an ace would be considered the highest or lowest card, so it might be an idea to specify that in the help section.

Good job mate!

The game has a nice clean appearance, and the action is smooth. So +1 for that. The game play itself is rather limited, but it's a nice diversion.

Very nice work here True Valhalla. The gameplay, although simple, is well executed and the visuals are well polished and presented. I played it on a both my iPhone 4 browser and in firefox on my PC. The iPhone was noticeably a bit slower, but with the simple gameplay it wasn't an issue at all. The little flying diamonds in the background was a subtle but nice touch as well. I personally didn't have a problem with the text overall (however there were a couple 'pixely' letters that did look a little out of place - but not a lot)

As Blake pointed out, at first I assumed the Ace would be considered high so if you haven't already throw that up on the help screen. Otherwise a great well presented game - especially for 9 hours work. Top stuff TV.

I think the font only looks confusing when you read the bottom part that says, "Property of Matthew Bowden Available for Licensing" because of the colors used. I never had trouble reading anything except for that bottom part.

But I think this is a fun and entertaining game, despite it being quite simple. Well done True Valhalla.

I agree with this, the bottom part didn't really match with the theme and feel of the game. Other than that, its a pretty cool and addictive game.

Thanks everyone! The bottom part of the screen is like that for a reason, try playing on an iPod or iPhone ;)

Did you make the graphics yourself. They are really good!

The card symbols and card faces are purchased vector graphics, and everything else is original or heavily altered :)
