I have a few questions concerning the usage of Mac In Cloud as described in the wiki page, if anyone can share their knowledge with me.
Using Mac In Cloud is described on the wiki page as a legitimate way of handling the MAC side of the game creation process, so I'm assuming that it actually has been used to do this at some point, though I can't seem to find any information on how to set it up.

I read the following wiki pages:
http://wiki.yoyogames.com/index.php/Setup_GameMaker:Studio_for_iOS
http://wiki.yoyogames.com/index.php/Setup_GameMaker:Studio_for_Mac
http://wiki.yoyogames.com/index.php/GameMaker:Studio_Settings_for_iOS

I feel like there is still some information missing. As I'm sure others have suggested a complete start to finish guide we be very much appreciated, especially on how to set up the connection to Mac In Cloud. I have the Yoyorunner on my iOS device already after some trial and error (Dropbox is an awesome tool BTW). When I run my game with iOS selected and the Yoyorunner app on my iOS device running it pauses for a moment, then repeatedly gives an error about being unable to extract something. I'm assuming this is because it hasn't gone through the mac side of things yet. I'm not sure how to get it to go that direction, though. I'm sure I could try some more specific things if I could, for a start, get connected to my mac.

Anyways, on to more specific questions:

1. For this image would <user>.macincloud.com:6000 alongside my username and password be enough or do I need to set something up on the remote mac or request some action on the server's side?

2. For Preferences -> Web Server what should I put here? Since it is not in my local network I'm not sure what to do. Does this set up allowed connections to the iOS device, the mac, or both?

3. What settings do I need on my iOS device in Yoyorunner? Does it connect to the mac or to my initiating PC?

Any and all help would be appreciated, and as I said before I've been scouring over the wiki for hours so if you are just going to link me another wiki page please point out what I've missed as well.

Thanks for any help at all! I know the answer is out there!

I've seen a lot of posts about Mac in Cloud, but so far to date, nobody has posted about having any success using it with Studio.

Odd that it is listed at all as a viable method if no one has gotten it to work. Perhaps that should be clarified on the wiki page

Is there a way to bypass connecting to the mac machine through GM:S and instead transfer the files back and forth via USB or dropbox?
I'm able to transfer files very easily but I can't get GM:S to connect the way it wants to. If I could transfer the files to the mac to be compiled there, then move them back to my pc then my iOS device that'd be enough. Time consuming, but enough.

Well, I put in a ticket to the people at Mac in Cloud. This was their response after I described the situation:

We will do some research on this. Our firewall blocks all inbound connection to the servers other than the most essential http/https ports. We'll see how we can potentially work with the new GameMaker set up. We will follow up on this issue soon.

Hopefully good will come of this.

Really glad this is being looked into as it's something a lot of us want to see working. Personally, I'm holding off buying the iOS module until I hear some positive news on this front.

Hostname could also be the IP Address of the macincloud computer. I am making an assumption here. I never got it to work so I ended up buying a hand me down mac.

Well I put in a ticket and waited a month with no reply after the vague "we'll look in to it" response.
I ended up cancelling and buying a mac mini $_$ and remoting in to it from my main PC. Much more convenient.

Maybe they will actually look in to it, but I wouldn't depend on macincloud for use with GM:S for the time being.
Too bad too, I could see them getting quite a bit of business from GM:S users if they do.

Folks, the mac-in-cloud thing may work, it may not.

If you want to get this setup with the least amount of hassle (and I say least, not NO, because it was still a learning experience), get a real mac, on your network and go from there.

If you don't do this you'll be scratching your head wondering if it's something on the "mac" not setup correctly, is it the mac-in-cloud service not working correctly, is it a firewall issue, is your PC, is it your router, etc...

MacInCloud is too early in development and does not give you enough access for it to work with GM: Studio!

For all those interested in exporting their game to IOS using a "mac in the cloud" solution.
I have some info for you.
As of right now, 12-23-2012 10pm pacific time, I have been able to successfully get the OK from Game studio that it connected
to my remote hosted mac.
I simply inserted the Static IP addressed to my MAC in the cloud, and the administrator username and assigned password.
I will post again when I have installed XCODE and fully verified that all is working.
in my pic below, I have removed the IP Info and username and password, but as you can see, the Connection OK! is showing.
I am using a rented MAC MINI from www.macstadium.com
Great system, reasonable for those who only need to rent a mac to get started.

Well, I just tried to export to the IOS target and I was able to get
a save as prompt showing the .ipa extension which looks like that is what we need.

This mac in the cloud appears to work.

Will follow through with another reply once my testing system has been able to properly install
and play the game,
