I dont know chuzzle or mancala (and cant lookup here at the job).
But your idea have rembered me Triple Town.

If you have an android take a look its a free game..(or some youtube video) its basically your idea but instead of numbers its with scenario for example
you have to combine 3 of the same kind to get 1 of a better..

3 grasses = 1 bush
3 bush = 1 tree

and this continue until you can make flying castles ahaha
not sure if this is 100% your idea but something visual that makes sense its better than just numbers (unless you father really like numbers)
you could do as some themed for what you father likes

just an idea :)

EDIT: And by the way. this is a really addicting game!

I like the idea, but it is far different than what my original idea was. I do agree, numbers are lame, but I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks for the input! :D

Variations upon: http://en.wikipedia....matical_puzzles ?

It would be difficult for anyone in this day and age to arrive at a unique puzzle when people have been considering them for thousands of years. And you haven't provided us with a theme or purpose behind the puzzles, so we can't supply any other specifics.

Perhaps something like Chess, but with different rules? It could have much more board space and pieces (similar to courier chess) except some of the pieces can teleport, or shoot, or do something interesting. :P

Depends on what sort of game you are making.

In my 2D game, I have levels where the player can change the level of water and lava, move ladders around with switches, and the classic red/blue interchangeable blocks.

Clever level design can also make for good puzzle design. Having a player re-enter a room from a different entrance to use/reuse a certain switch can make for interesting puzzles.

What was the original post? This is now an incredibly vague question...

Wrong, nintendo recently made a puzzle in Skyward Sword for the Wii. It uses timeshift stones. I doubt there are puzzles with a similar concept.
