I just got rep-raped by 9_6

.....

I'll never fully recover :ermm:

This system will work fine as long as people are using it maturely (in the contrary to 9_6 who was just "out-discussed" and pouting), and it adds more color to the GMC.
I like it. I have a little rule about it; I never down-rep a post of the person (or people) I'm discussing with. I just find it unethical, when you're already in a discussion - you're constantly declaring your statements, no need to throw a downrep in the trade.

On another note,
It seems this topic is cooling down - or maybe the arguers are sleeping - perhaps we can find peace and live side by side peacefully again?

Why is it unethical?

And how is it more unethical than downrep without posting?

FWIW, you're kidding yourself if you think you 'outdiscussed' 9_6.

Lol, I think some of you guys just need to not be so sensitive. I mean, if you set my rep to -100, I wouldn't even blink an eye. The majority of people will create a mental image of you from the content of your posts. If someone decides to look at your rep and base their perception of you on that, then who really gives a crap anyway? Are they the type of person that would really matter to you? I'd hope not.

Nobody can "out discuss" 9_6. Because sometimes he (figuratively) covers his ears and yells "na na na.... I can't hear you". Gotta love that.

But I agree there's nothing "unethical" with him using the down vote. Hypocritical maybe... but not unethical.

I totally understand Blake's point of view, and my personal 'view' is the same.. but then, I've been here a long time, and I know this community quite well. I can be called idiotic, or have someone poke fun at my numerous spelling&grammar mistakes. I don't mind, I'm already comfortable here!

Now if I was, say, a new GMC members. Who doesn't know anyone. Or how to use GM. (or how to use the internet..) Yes, I'd be sensitive as heck!!

Actually, I doubt you'd be sensitive even as a new member or GM newbie. Because you're not that personality type. But I understand your point: some new members might be sensitive at first.

The GMC gives tough love, baby. And most everyone here eventually grows out of their fears, and feels confident. So the community flourishes and grows.

There's nothing wrong with being sensitive. The world (and the GMC) needs all sorts of types of people to function.

I agree there's nothing wrong with it. I'm just saying it's usually a temporary feeling that most members outgrow after a while.

-rep is not temporary, though, and the only way to get rid of it is to be hilariously funny, or bitingly sarcastic. And maybe if you answer the right question in Q&A, you might get the odd +1 out of that.

No this is not cool, this is not what I've been doing and I don't appreciate this, not even "ironically".
If you would rather have me ping pong walls of text against this rather solid wall, sorry to disappoint.
Believe it or not I don't like explaining myself over and over especially if that gets shrugged off to make room for more important observations like me allegedly only focusing on the pixel size of posts and making no arguments beyond that but sure, it is me who covered their ears.
I have used the system for the only sense-making point anyone has made: avoiding wasting space and not polluting topics because of 1 idiot.
Know that someone deemed this report-worthy.

Now kindly back off.

I enjoy arguing but not fighting. So I won't make any further comments about you -- even as teasing. And +1 as a gesture of friendship.

That's just not true, DD. You're neither hilarious, nor sarcastic -- yet you have a great reputation here. Both literally and numerically.

Anyways, if you don't like it don't use it.

Not sure I agree. One can be against the system because one thinks people abuse it, and then decide to use it your way, trying to "correct" the effects of those one thinks are abusing it.

Didn't say I was trying to correct anything. I'm just not going to be hypocritical about my dislike. I don't like it, so I won't use it. It won't alter the effects, or add to it. I just use +1 and ignore the evil red button of doom.

Why are all the "I don't care about rep." posts getting rep?

Surely if they don't care about rep at all, repping them would be pointless? (That being said, I've +'d several already.)
