Voting posts down?!

Why has this been brought in? It doesn't seem very necessary - to be honest, I always liked the way we could only vote posts up, it makes the forums seem friendlier and stops that whole cascade of negative votes thing that's often seen on YouTube.
Considering how against flame wars the forum is - I'm surprised this was added in.

And I've a feeling people are going to troll me for opening this topic and my rep is going to take a hit.
Hands off my rep.

I've just tried this and once again, YYG has missed the entire point of the function. Instead of splitting it into two different categories, they've just joint them together, so you can't see how many people agree or disagree with you. Weldone YYG on another flawed decision.
YYGs didn't make the decision. IPB the creators of the forum software did.
YYGs decision can only be:
- Not allow any reputation + or -.
- Allow only positive.
- Allow only negative.
- Allow both.
But no matter which the choose, there is only one field that tracks it per post, and one field that tracks the cumulative value.

Now there are two options there that that benefit the community and actually give the reputation system a point.

Any know there are two buttons.
What I was commenting on is your post that suggests that YYGs could have split it into two catagories, they can't. That's how IPB works, it doesn't rack the individulal + and - counters.

You'll have to forgive my wording, I'm multitasking with several instances of GameMaker, I meant to say "it does" not "they've made it that way".Any know there are two buttons.

A: Have the reputation system function how it used to.
or B: Remove the reputation system entirely.
With the added option to minus rep posts, I find it renders the whole thing completely useless.

I vote to either
A: Have the reputation system function how it used to.
or B: Remove the reputation system entirely.
With the added option to minus rep posts, I find it renders the whole thing completely useless.
How about that.
