Hi,

Now that yoyo has released first version of studio (Your update rate is sick :), I really like all this updates so frecuently ) are there any plans to add some more "Programmers friendly" features to GML? Things like structures, somo sintax sygar como ++i instead of i+=1, etc... etc...? My main concern is the lack of a fast grouping structure (I mean without use a map, etc...).

Thanks in advance.

Most language changes will not come until GM:Next we are focussing on bringing GM to multiple targets (and monetisation options for customers) in this generation and then next generation is bringing new GML and new Maker. Occasionally requests are made that are not too hard to add so I can do them easily, unfortunately ++., -- and Structures are not easily implemented in the codebase so they will not make it until GM:Next.

We haven't even started to design GM:Next, it's a loooooooooooooooooooong way off. So there is no place to "find out" about it.

Don't start thinking of GM:Next, or waiting for it. It's far too far off to even start discussing it.

Anyway thank you for the reply.
Keep the good work... Im sure this close relation you devs have with us is a huge differential.
I've tried other similar platforms before and either the community and the developers were not engaged with the customers.

Im new here, but already loving it.

So we will have to wait until GM Next to get the rewritten sound engine or will a revised sound engine be available to Studio eventually ?

the beta of gmstudio is telling me i need a new license is that to say that i need to purchase the full product to continue using it?
oh and also i am buying ipad 3 16gb(gigabyte) and then purchasing game maker studio, and once game maker 9 comes out, well we shall if it can make games for the xbox live arcade and other consoles that i suggested, but i will w8 just until there a gm product that can all do of that.
other wise you can say bye bye to one customer and a few more customers until you grant my wish for those suggestions which i kindly gave you out of the kindness of my own heart that i was going to save for when you employ me if ever at all.

@Mike.Daily:
ha ha ha ha funny but now seriously the word will spread of what game maker is incapable of but they will soon find a new easier stronger to use rival of YoYo's and you seriously do not want me to post the name of the company, in the next post of mine so think about this long and hard. for it will make your rival sell more of it's product and possibly buy out YoYoGames.

Feel free to go there and use that program, which has zero chance of running on these devices anyway. But off you go and enjoy yourself! Good luck to you good sir! :biggrin:

You do realize that it isn't just an
enable_compile_for_xbox = true;
right?

I mean, we JUST got Mac, HTML5, iOS, and Android, on essentially the 9th version of the program and it's still brand new stuff now. A ton of progress has already been made in the respect of multi-platform, but I seriously doubt that you telling 2 people about it will do anything.

Mike, keep up the good work on the current project.

HEY, HEY GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THAT ORANGE JUICE DOESN'T POWER CARS? Yeah, the orange juice companies are hurting now.

Totally agree. If you see android, windows, ios are very acessible to write.. anyone can lookup on google and learn.
For consoles, xbox.. ps3 its waaaay to hard.
Its not shared information.. you have to be a developer (mainly big companies).. imagine if Yoyo (I believe Yoyo its not a multi millionaire company like EA) invest time and money on this... and then for some reason they see this will not gonna happen to comunicate with GM for x reasons.

Even a famous PS3 engine states on their website that they dont know how the engine is really used in PS3.. they just give the engine for the companies.
And even they pass all the hard things and actually create a module for xbox would be far more expensive than current modules.

I would buy the module.
I would buy that module though. So would many
Other loyal customers? My answer is yes.

Not to be rude here but...
If your goal is to dev. for platforms other than what GM supports (right now or in the near future) Don't you think you should then look into options for those platforms that already exist? It's not like you can't use GM for what it supports, AND use those others for anything else you want.
If your argument is you prefer the GM environment/tools, well I understand that perfectly, I do too. However if it's just not an option right now you may want to start looking into alternative means.
It would be really cool if GM supported everything, but thats not very practical at this point.

Man..you kids are just silly.

You act like its a flip of a switch. Honestly, if you're looking into console development: Go get a developers license for that company.

Go find a price tag, and then you'll realize you were silly for even thinking you could do such a thing. Anyone who is honestly able to afford such pricey things should already have a trained team ready to make such things for such companies, no matter the language requirement.

tl;dr: If you have that much dosh anyways, you should do it in another engine
