Separating sound effects from music

Is there a way to separate the sound effects from the music after the WAV file is saved? If not, is there a way in Fceux to disable the music but not the sound effects so that I could only record the sound effects?
In this case, I am planning on using the warping pipe sound in one of my games. Help will be greatly appreciated.

This isn't exactly what I'm looking for, but I may end up using it if no other alternatives work. I thank you for your help anyway and give you a reputation point.A google search gives me this:

Again, I am trying to extract the pipe travel sound effect from the Super Mario Bros. 3 NES ROM so that I can use it in one of my games. What I am really looking for is either an option used in Fceux to disable background music but not sound effects so I can record just the sound effects, or a downloadable software or freeware that can be used to separate sound effects from music in sound or movie files.

Is it possible to separate desired sound effects from music in a movie or sound file made with an emulator, or disable certain (but not all) sounds from Fceux? If neither is possible, is it true that what I'm looking for can only be done with special equipment?
Yes, it's called a speaker and a microphone. welcome to the 70's
Please don't ask how to rip other people's work on the forum.
