Hey there Team YoYoGames,

I would like to make a small suggestion that would make GM much more user friendly.

You know that when you have a script opened in GameMaker you can hover above any ressoure (sprite, background, object, ...) and the use the context menu to select the bottom option ("show ressource") or F12 to
immediatly open the given ressource.

In Visual Studio there is a simple extension called the "Microsoft Power Productivity Tools". With this you can simply hover the cursor on the given ressource in the script editor and if you hold CTRL down while clicking the
ressource it is immediatly opened. Sure, the F12 key is nearly the same, but the F12 key is on the upper right of my keyboard, the CTRL key however is on the bottom left of my keyboard and much better to reach.

Wouldn't it be great to quickly navigate around like this? :)

Yes actually, that would be handy... The new Studio debugger works this way (control click an instance and it brings up the instance properties tab) so it would be consistent with that too.

The main problem that we have with GM:Studio is that a lot of the windows are modal, that means nothing else can open on top of them - because of this we are limited in what we can do.

GM:Next will sort most of these issues as we rewrite the UI completely, this is exactly the sort of thing we will be doing.

I dont relly understand why modal windows would be a problem right now? Just let it open the ressources as you would do with F12...the outcome is the same, the way to achieve it is different..no problems with modal dialogs here...however...yeah, we absolutely need a mdi-container (tabs) :o

Edit:
Okay, just now I understood bout the modal forms ;) had it happen to me right now. Wierd...I am 100% sure I did manage to open another resource from within a script editor without problems some minutes ago...can the script editor be opened in two different ways perhaps?

Script and code windows are different. A script can have other windows above it, a code window (as in a code action in an object) cannot ;)
