With group I mean things like Administrator, Local Moderator, Global Moderator, Reviewer, etc.
If anyone could explain what each one of those groups are i'd be very thankful.

ok thanksLocal moderators, global moderators and administrators have the privelege to close topics, ban misbehaving members and in general control the forums. An additional group, Reviewers, was added when the review forum was introduced. Reviewers have the privelege to post new topics in the reviews forum

Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all the Admins work at YYG. xot and Fredfredrickson, for example, live in the US and have other jobs (based on comments they've made).Admins work at YYG.

Yeah, administrators are a mixture of YoYo Games employees (at least those that require access to GMC's innards, such as the web developers and the higher-ups), the few people that are trusted enough/have been here long enough, who contribute to many major decisions and carry them out (such as the recent forum reorganisation), who have normally ascended through the Local and Global moderator ranks, and a couple of people that are both.Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all the Admins work at YYG. xot and Fredfredrickson, for example, live in the US and have other jobs (based on comments they've made).

And to clarify, yes, Global Moderators have the ability to moderate all boards and their topics (banning/warning users, removing spam, moving topics to correct forums, posting important Sticky topics or making topics Sticky/not Sticky etc). Local Moderators are essentially the same but generally are moderators only of a few boards rather than all of them.

There is another group too.... Retired Staff. What is their work exactly?
I think they all used to be mods or admins, but then they retired.
I have never seen a situation so earnestly deserving of this image.

Their job is to ridicule stupid comments, argue with YYG decisions, and generally stir things up around here. There is another group too.... Retired Staff. What is their work exactly?
And speaking of member groups... there's a group called "No Mod Queue", which doesn't appear to have any members. What is this group for?

By being active, helpful, and mature. If and when more moderators are needed, they'll be hand picked by the admins, so there's not really anything you can do other than behave well and hope they notice you (though I've heard Nocturne likes cookies)How can a user become a moderator?

Only by winning in battle. So find the weakest moderator, and argue with every decision he makes. Ridicule him publicly. If you can humiliate him badly enough, he'll leave and you get to take his place. How can a user become a moderator?
The GMC is a tough town.

You know 'moderation queues' Chance? Some forums have them, like to post in specific area's a moderator needs to approve the thread first. So I'm assuming that the group is referring to people who do not need to have their threads approved, and privileges that allow them to post freely. And speaking of member groups... there's a group called "No Mod Queue", which doesn't appear to have any members. What is this group for?
But ultimately that's an assumption, not 100% sure.

EDIT: Wow, it took me ages to write this

How can a user become a moderator?
- Post in the "Hello World", topic where all the former YYGFs members are introducing themselves.
- State in your post that you were a moderator on YYGF
- Your status here will then be updated to Moderator.
