Is Game Maker capable of making "soft" joints?
For instance, the internet tells me to tune how soft a distance joint is, for example, I have to fine-tune the "frequencyHz" and the "Damping Ratio".
Is there a way to use these properties in GM? For example, joining togeter several small fixtures by a soft distance joint to give the illusion of being threaded on an elastic rope.

Using the Box2D physics that GM:Studio has, you could possibly fudge the effect by using many prismatic joints to connect instances with fixtures. These joints would have a motor so that they would "spring" back together, but would also "stretch" if the weight was great enough... However you will need to experiment with the functions! Check the manual for more info.

No, I'm afraid not. Box2D (which is what Studio uses) is a RIGID BODIES physics engine, so deformable fixtures and soft joints aren't available. You COULD possibly use the Extreme Physics dll as I believe that it may permit this type of thing, but I have never used it and don't know how compatible it is with Studio anyway (and it will limit you to only making a windows game).
