I like Beeproduction's and Nal's designs, but I don't see why YoYoGames needs to be so big with GameMaker Community so small. I think it should be the other way around with YoYo as more of a subtitle.

Well, it needs to bigger to push the name forward. I kind of like it that way - it doesn't really look like part of the title.

I still prefer the light theme though...

But my choice of forum theme -- in the privacy of my home -- isn't visible to you. So it's none of your business. Unless, like I said, you're a Republican.

And the YYG Dark theme is on automatically, it's the public theme and the first thing that people see when they visit the site. So yes, it's representing the community to the public, so it's slightly my business.

That's a legitimate point. But given that a user choice still exists, your obsession with that theme seems unjustified.

As much as I hate it, complaining about it isn't going to change it. Therefore, let us cease all discussion about the theme in this thread.

Have the last word... and then stop the discussion? I tried that with my kids but it never worked.

So instead of discussing the theme itself, let's discuss why you and Rusty have such an issue with something you're not forced to use. Since you can easily select a different theme, your obsession with this one seems rather odd.

I think changing the name of this site will only confuse people and make a lot of them REALLY mad. Maybe instead of changing the name, you could add a subtitle such as "The official YoYoGames forum" or, more simply, "The Game Maker forum." You could also have a link on the main YoYoGames page simply saying "Forums"

Agreed! That's the exact thought I had before even reading this thread!

I expect that including this in the HTML title and meta (and not only the logo) would keep the SEO for "GameMaker Community" plus grab searches for "YoYo Games Forum" -- win-win! This way, everyone can still call it the GMC around the Web, and any references to YYG's forum will easily lead here, too. $:^ ]

I'm glad that the YYG and GMC are finally being merged. I didn't see the purpose of having two communities in the first place, especially since the GMC had already been in place for years. (Then again, this forum was fairly hostile towards YYG early on, so I can understand why they created a separate one.) All in all, name the GMC anything that fits -- so long as it isn't the horrendously long acronym Nocturne proposed. That would simply be awful.

I wondered the same for a good long while, too. I had a YYGF account, but with my limited online time, I couldn't maintain time in both; the GMC attracted me more, but I thought it unwise to have two official places for user interaction.

As long as the domain name i still gmc.yoyogames.com, it doesn't concern me.

I'm glad none of this will affect me because I am using the original, light YoYo skin.

Someone should give YoYo Games the original blue skin if they have it. I loved that one too.

This might be classified as #firstworldproblems, but my life would be so much better if they installed the IPB default skin.

@pics in the OP,
In my honest opinion, I think that "GameMaker Community" should be the focus and not Yoyo Games, since this is a forum, the GMC, and not just Yoyo, a company thing... Not sure if I made myself clear but I hope you guys understand. Just my honest thoughts though...
