As many of you will know, we are planning a small re-branding exercise here at the GMC. A few suggestions have been thrown around and so we've knocked a couple of them up to see what might fit. Remember, this is "just" for the branding at the top of the page. Aside from forwarding forums.yoyogames.com to here as well, nothing else will actually change. We're looking for some "constructive" criticism, and possibly some alternatives. You may feel free to come up with your own ideas, but they must fit into the same kind of size/space as the images below do.

NOTE: This isn't a vote! We are asking for opinions and suggestions only!! We will take all ideas and decide which ones we like, or we may just go with one of our own anyway.

But if you think you have a better idea, feel free to add an image, or suggest a new name.

Here are the 3 we've done so far. From these choices, we actually favour the middle one surprisingly. The image is very well balanced and it "YoYo Games" in there (which is the basic criteria for rebranding)

I guess I like the second image the most too, but I think the "GAMES" part looks just a bit out of place. If you added an outline or something to it, I think it would be almost perfect. Otherwise I would go with the first image.

Earlier in the announcment topic I said I'd prefere "YoYoGames Community", but now looking at the screenshots of how it would look, it actually is least appealing to me.

The middle one, despite the long name, is easiest on the eye for me.

I also think that with the middle one still containing "GameMaker Community" in the name, it will keep the nostalgic type happy. I prefere it over the first one because when I think of YoYoGames, I don't think "YoYo" but I think "YoYoGames"; when I refere to you in a forum post, I always put YYG, not YY.

first one is hugely th best BUT, i really think it should not have the logo(if its that scale, which looks nice) confined to the menubar which is now overly stretched vertically. I personally would go with the current menu bar and the logo popping out of the bar(if at all possible). the alternative being scaling the text up for the menu

I prefer the first banner because of the darker background making it stand out a little more but prefer YoYo Games Community over YoYo Games GameMaker Community (feels too wordy) or YoYo GameMaker Community (doesn't seem to flow very well). As someone mentioned before I tend to refer to your company as YoYoGames rather than just YoYo so the YYGMC doesn't look right to me.

Hmm as I will keep running for as long as possible the light theme, my opinion probably differs from the rest. The first banner would clash with the light theme, suddenly a "black box" appearing at the top is not really aesthetic.

The 2nd one seems too much text together making it look messy. So I prefer the 3rd topic.

As far as the logo goes, I like the second one "the YoYo GAMES GameMaker community" - but I think the font for "GAMES" is not quite right. It doesn't fit the rest.

What about this:

What I did was pick the logo from the main site and remove "putting you in the game" to make it less cluttered. Doing this will make it fit the main site better.

Edit: after reading some other comments, I think I have to agree with those who say that "YoYoGames GameMaker Community" is too long. YoYoGames Community would then be better - I mean YoYoGames and GameMaker together is kind of superfluous. /edit

As far as layout goes, I like the first one best, with the continuous dark-gray beam with the black cutout for the logo.

Also, please don't forget people who use the light theme.

Maybe the style in the first picture along with the wording of the third

Wow... really? We're don't really like the 1st one at all. We think the black surround on it is just too much. The second one goes much better with the current style, while the 3rd the "community" part needs to fill the space below, but can't because it just looks odd when you do.

As to changing the "YoYo Games" part. Sorry, that's the old brand art, so we won't be using that.

So far, I'm still with the middle one....

As to the name, if "GameMaker" is still in there, then it'll probably still just get called the "GMC", which is probably a plus in terms of search results - which I guess is a plus.

Personally, I want the first one, but minus the black box. I've always preferred that name anyway, and the logo seems the best to me.

i really dont like the middle one, id say the "black surround" is the best part! followed by the shape of it(the transition bettwen black and grey) and thirdly the reason i dislike the other 2 so much is because the first one is elongated having the gamemaker comunity on the right hand side of the YOYO, id sya if you really dsilike th black even with other people liking it please go with a wide rectangle shape atleast.

alternative try some with a game maker gear maybe a new one with a c?

The fact that the logo stretches the menu bar is kinda displeasing on the eye...

I agree the middle one is best. But artwork aside, I like that "GameMaker Community" still appears prominently on a single line.

any chance we can see option 1. without the black and without the excess space above and bellow it? so the menu bar is less stretched? i think that and if posible the menu options being vertically aligned would make it perfect
