I was trying to avoid calling you refugees, and 'YYGF users' is a bit of a mouthful.

We're calling you "new" because you are "new" to the GMC, not Game Maker. A lot of people who arrive at the GMC have a lot of Game Maker experience before signing up. I had around 2-3 months of experience with Game Maker before I signed up in 2010, that made me new to the GMC.
Well I'm not really new as such to the GMC either. I have a sign-up date earlier than yours. I only rarely used my GMC account back then and now I'm being called "New" again all of a sudden. (Ok, maybe not so much in comparison to Docopoper, but two years and a bit here isn't really that "New" in comparison to three years and a bit.)

Well, I haven't seen you posting before, so you're new to me and you're new to many of the members here who either didn't see your posts or remember you from those years ago. Being new isn't a bad thing, I don't see why you're so against it all. Like it or not, if I returned to some of my old homes on the internet, I'd be new to a lot of people there, regardless of my history with the site.

Hah, I knew I wasn't the only one who figured this.People, don't be fooled. This was not a merger. This was a shut-down. YYGF forum members were always able to join the GMC.
Not that I'm bitter about it; we're being acknowledged and compensated, after all.
I don't really care what we're called either, but...
Personally, I think "refugees" actually has a bit of a ring to it. xP

And yeah, I don't mind "refugees" either, I don't see why people are up in arms about it.

I guess at least we get some new members.

Still, putting the extremely meaningful word "YoYo" somewhere in the title is certainly worth it.

I still don't see why people don't get AdBlock though... maybe they're using IE.

Perhaps AdBlock is available for their browser, but they appreciate that running websites is not free, and wish to support the sites that they visit.I still don't see why people don't get AdBlock though... maybe they're using IE.

I like it just because I'm used to it. To be honest, it made the move from YYGF to here easier because the appearance didn't change too much thanks to the dark theme.I honestly have no idea what purpose the dark theme serves... it looks unprofessional, less modern, depressing and hurts my eyes.

I'm glad that the YYG and GMC are finally being merged. I didn't see the purpose of having two communities in the first place, especially since the GMC had already been in place for years. (Then again, this forum was fairly hostile towards YYG early on, so I can understand why they created a separate one.) All in all, name the GMC anything that fits -- so long as it isn't the horrendously long acronym Nocturne proposed. That would simply be awful.

YoYo Games Community doesn't sound bad—it's a nice name actually—but it sounds like a place to play games rather than make them, y'see? And that's ignoring the YoYo part that makes it sound like a community for yo-yos fanatics kind of like...YoYoCommunity! Do kids even still play with yo-yos? Nevermind, that's a dumb question.

No, don't get confused. They take it very lightly there. That's the community for Making Yoyos not the community for Playing with Yoyos. The community for playing with yoyos is YoyoForum!
On a more ontopic-y sort of note.
When is this name change actually taking place, I asked before but I didn't get any sort of reply.

YoYoGames doesn't require the ad revenue to run their site, they're a company, not like us Indie kids, while I can see why they might not want to remove the ads, I don't see any need for me to clutter my screen with them for YYG.Perhaps AdBlock is available for their browser, but they appreciate that running websites is not free, and wish to support the sites that they visit.
