The Masters of Game Maker competition is now over.

If you have submitted a game to me and I have yet to reply to you, it simply means that I have gotten around to checking your game yet. I will not accept any more entries after this point. If you are a judge for this competition, you will be receiving a folder containing all of the games for you to play within 24 hours. I'll give you more specific details in my message. As for the competitors, well done. You should see your scores and who won within a week.

Thanks Mercerenies. It was good having a time limit so that I would actually finish a game.
Can't wait for the results.

Would it be possible for you to put a .zip with all the games on the OP? That way those who aren't judging can still play them all.

I plan to, but only once the scores are in and winners are announced.

Any more contests you mean? I was thinking maybe in a couple of months I might host another one.

Thanks Mercerenies. It was good having a time limit so that I would actually finish a game.

Yeah, that's the great thing I love about these things. With time limits you cannot wait around lest you will not finish. As for myself, unfortunately I failed to make it. I had a few issues as I tried to finish up and I did not want to submit a nonfunctional game. I planned time for it today, but work kept me, and I can't say no to the real world. Shame that I worked quite awhile on it only to see it come to nothing. (I'll probably finish it, but it's out-of-competition now.)

I definitely will participate in another one of these. This is the most original and interesting type of competition I have seen. Honestly, limiting colors, types of things to use, etc. is one thing, but when you literally eliminate the powerful aspect of object management in Game Maker, it makes things really interesting. I can't wait to participate in the next one. (And next time, a full two months instead of one! Unless you plan to shorten it ;))

How about you finish your game and post it here anyway sigonasr. It may not be judged for the competition but people might give you feedback anyway.
Try and get it in before all the judging has been done, then you'll know this topic is still alive and your game will be seen. That sort of gives you a time limit as well, so you'll still have some motivation to get it done. :medieval:
I want to see it!

Extreme limits? :Q The only limit is the time limit, I've never finished a game ever.... I just program engine stuff, not game content. But my 3D project follows almost all rules except for: 2. You may have no more than one object in your game. (But it wouln't be hard to copy paste it all into one object) -Games must be started after the official start date of the competition and turned in before the official end date. Well it's only a engine atm, but making a game out of it wouln't be a problem when it's done. Limits like "1. You must use no paths, timelines, or tilesets (non-tileset backgrounds are permitted). 4. You may only use the Game Start, Step, and Draw events. '5. You may not use Trigger events." and similar, why would I? They are as important as DnD!

After nearly a week's wait, the results are in. See the OP for details.

3rd prize Woohoo!
I'm also in the bottom 3 though.
I guess it's not bad when you consider that I was one of the few who actually managed to submit a game. That in itself is an achievement for me!

Thanks so much for running this comp Mercerenies, it's been a blast!

EDIT: Would it be possible to get a break-down of my score by criteria? If it's too difficult don't worry, but it would be good to know what the judges thought followed the criteria well and what didn't.
40/50 seems pretty good to me!

Your scores were as follows in the different categories:
Creativity: 7 5 7 7 9
Appearance: 9 5 9 8 9
Elaborateness: 8 3 8 7 9
Gameplay: 6 4 6 8 7
Judge's Opinion: 9 4 7 8 8
(Don't feel too bad about that second score in each category. That judge rated everyone harshly :P)

Creativity 35/50
Appearance 40/50
Elaborateness 35/50
Gameplay 31/50
Judges Opinion 33/50

Hmm, seems like my score should have been 35.4 unless you doubled the scores of the judge that rated everyone harshly or something along those lines.
Anyway, I'm not complaining.

My lowest score was for gameplay while my highest was for Appearance. I thought the game looked horrible but was fun to play! Guess that's just my opinion - it's good to get feedback from others though.
Thanks to all the judges that took the time to play and rate my game!
I'm going to play all the other games soon and leave a rating myself. Feedback is gooooooooood.

Also noticed a cool banner in the OP now! Thanks so much, I'm going to put that in my sig in a minute...

Each game will end up with five composite scores of ?/50 points. A game's final composite score will be determined by removing its highest and lowest scores and then averaging the other three.

I removed the outlier scores before averaging.
