I just got an idea... If someone followed a rule where they would have to wait at least one week before they start on a game that's gonna take more than a few days, do you think it would be far more likely that those projects they DO start on would get finished, since they already spent a week designing and re-designing it and such?

I would say so, yes. Having a design down pat is great for getting things done.

Most of my inspiration stems from old games, whether they're popular or not.

My main inspiration for developing a game is how much i like that game gender, normally MMORPG's, but recently i started playing a 3D MMOFPS and that gave me a lot of ideas for my own MMOFPS.

My main inspiration comes from my head (when i play games, watch TV or start thinking), I normally have 100 ideas per week (Yeah a lot), but i don't make all of the ideas I have.

So in conclusion i have a lot of creativity and that makes me a active Developer (For testing, Learning or Making a game).

Typically, I get my inspiration from combining different concepts and styles. I just sit down, go "okay what would happen if I made an X game with Y aspect to it" and play with the mechanics until I get something playable. Other things I notice/read/watch also play into how the game turns out in the end.

I make the games I would like to play. I fill them with all the things that I want to see in other games; simple as that. The motivation is that I want to be able to play the game in a finished state in order to enjoy it.

That is a very good motivation for creating games.

I get game ideas by taking walks and looking at the world around me. Yay!

Motivation for finishing? Good examples of motivation include constant feedback from other people, imagining the finished product and random psychic visions.

Good idea :) I think you can actually get some good inspiration from nature.

I agree, especially about the feedback.
