DAMN IT! I was going to buy HTML5 today. >:(

Edit: Also, I only wanted the HTML5 part. Or else I'd get Studio.

We are not discussing further modules just now, but we have plans and we are in discussions with several parties.

A question regarding Windows 8, since it runs Win7 apps just fine, then I guess it should not have any problems running compiled GM Studio games right ? Can GM Studio itself run in Win8 ?

Yes the Maker works on Windows 8 and the runner too... at least on the early copy we have in the office.

So I want a clarification.

First, let's all agree that GM:Studio simply is a wrapup of different runners for the same Game Maker we all know and love.

Do existing GM8 users get an upgrade to GM:Studio (Windows exporter only, for logical reasons) to benifit from the different improvements or will you force a loyal paying customer (Since 2003) to buy a new copy of the software?

If it's the latter, I will feel betrayed, that's for sure.

If it's the former, I'll surely buy the HTML5 exporter because it's awesome.

Studio is a different product to GM8, I don't go to a farm shop to buy eggs and expect the farmer to throw in a chicken.

So it has come to this? Game Maker's community treating me like a kid?

I shall wait for an official response or something.

Edit: Changed YoyoGames' community to Game Maker's community.

I'm sorry - you expect a brand new copy of a $100 product, just because you bought GM 8 for $20 over a year ago?

On top of that, you're arrogant enough to call it a betrayal if you don't?

Unbelievable. You won't get an official response beyond "LOLWUT".

Just a quick question - is it possible to publish to the Intel AppUp store? I'm talking to some guys who are interested in the product and I'm looking into the possible ways in which games can be sold. :)

LOLWUT!?!!

However, on a more serious note, GM:Studio is not just a freshening up of GM8.1, it is a whole new product line with a number f enhancements and changes. Configuration manager, integrated source control, texture page management, target platforms, C++ runner, physics and a number of other minor improvements that I don't have time to detail here. So, GM8.1 and GM:Studio are completely different products, with a completely different target audience and as such are priced differently and have different upgrade paths.

Okay then, sorry for the arrogance. But any chances to get the C++ runner for next version of GM? It really is the only thing I really wanted to have. All the other features I wouldn't buy... Oh well... I guess being a faithful customer who bought it 3 times just isn't your target audience...

I tried beta of gm studio. Is simply GREAT. But, i can't afford buy one. For 397 USD i can buy a used car in Czech republic :D Maybe, if i save some money from my salary for three or four months, i can buy one licence :D

Unfortunately, making games is only my little hobby.I am not indie developer or something like that. Maybe, once will be some action sales or competion and i win :D

Perhaps you might consider GM8.1 then, remember that people were using this before teh release of GM Studio. It is still very competitive and affordable. GM Studio is not a requirement. I'm sure that most people who spend that money are developers who plan to make some money with their games, otherwise GM8.1 would be a more suitable product for your needs. Of course the new feature and performance increase in the new product is part of a new product. I guess the same goes for ANY software out there.

Can I ask? Has the payment license problems been solved? You know, the problem people were having at the start?
