I need a sound effect that would be appropriate for when a soft, jiggly, glowing blue orb is collected. Please do not make it sound cliche. I would like it to be as distinguishable as, say, Sonic's rings, or Mario's coins. What I'm looking for is something original that would make someone think, "Hey, that's from Nancy's Rainbowland! I have never heard that anywhere else!"

I would like a very synthetic sound effect for this, but it has to sound like it's coming from a soft, jiggly, glowing blue orb.

Take your time, and thanks for the help!

Actually, it's not exactly what I'm looking for... nice try, though. I'm looking for a deep, 16 bit, bouncy, hollow sounding *BLOOP*, not an 8-bit *ting*

Try looking at my game first: http://sandbox.yoyog...ncy-rainbowland and see what sound effect I used.
I want it to sound like that, but different.

You should look up an utility called "SFXR" made by a guy named "Dr.Petter". It's basically a synth that can randomly generate sound effects or generate a sound effect according to certain parameters like "ripple", "sustain time" and "squarewave duty" that are set by sliders, and it's EXTREMELY good in making sound effects really quickly.

That's actually the exact program I linked, except my link is hosted elsewhere. :)

But do you not like the sound you currently have in your game? I think its pretty good and I do think it is quite distinguishable from other sound effects

Actually I do like the sound effect used in my game at current, but I found it on a Flash resources website. I do not remember what the website is called, but the sound is called "hollow" by someone I'm assuming is named "p-dog". I like it a lot, but since the sound is probably being used elsewhere by millions of other users, I would like a sound to replace it. Maybe the same kind of sound, only a little different.... maybe superior.
