Hello and welcome to the Plants vs Zombies Remake (PVZR) forum! I have been working on this game for a little while, and i have come to the conclusion that I am not good enough at game maker 8.0 Pro to complete it alone. I am wondering if anyone would like to help me with it? You could help me with the art, physics, etc...

In order to only help me with the art, please visit my Official PVZR website. On that website, you can join in on the art competition and start making Plants/Zombies for me to incorporate into the game. I will gladly accept any help.

To help me with the physics/ideas, you can P.M me and I'll let you help. All that I currently have in PVZR is an animation-less peashooter (that fires for no reason), an animated wall-nut, some pathetic tiles, and a sad looking menu. I will gladly accept any help available.

You can view this video to see it as of 5/6/2012. Please help me with this project. I really want to finish it. It will be like an exact replica of Plants vs Zombies, but it will have more mini games, plants, zombies, levels, bosses, and other things added into it! Thanks again, and please help me out. :mellow:

Hello Everyone! I would like to ask for some help on the saving and loading of PVZR. I have it where you have to manually find the file, but I want it to save into a certain place every time, not show the dialogs, and have the thing on the main screen that shows you all of the accounts. If you have any ideas about to do this, please reply A.S.A.P! I really want to get PVZR 0.1.1.0 out soon!

Use the edit button next time ;) and what will make your PVZ better then the original? I don't think that it will ever be... just to be realistic. Here are some reasons:
- you are an amateur at game making (Not saying its bad to be though). Would you play an amateur game, or a professional game?

That's really the only reason. I say, add a twist to it. Make it have an RPG feel, or something. Good luck though.

I agree, why don't you just take the concept of the game and do your own thing and not take it's name. Make a different version, find your own name and build on what you think could be better and what you enjoyed about the game keep in. Everyone is here to help :) But i think youre setting your standards to high and should go for a more original idea :)

I'd like to see a tower defence game where you place ZOMBIES that try to protect, say, a vampire crypt from a bunch of zombie police, Castelvania-style demon slayers, ghost busters and other people who like to kill zombies. It'd be a fresh take on the genre.

Would advise going in the tentative direction of what Yal has said. Remakes, as far as I understand them, are usually for old and fondly remembered games that could use a technical facelift - not for currently popular games that you just want to add to. Remember, all that "Plants vs. Zombies" did was to take the Tower Defence Game and mix up a few elements, and stick together two completely non-sequitur thoughts together. You can do the same!

Out of sheer curiosity, how are you going to make it more original?

Make it more of my own and less of an exact duplicate (i.e add new plants, zombies, modes, etc).

So it's really not that original, is it? It's more a sequel?

That's fine, I suppose. What new plants and zombies are you thinking of adding, then? They had a comprehensive list in the first game...

They didn't have any trees. I don't think they had cacti either, and cacti could be quite useful traps. I'd also like to see Pirahna Plants. Completely original :whistle:

As for zombies, it'd be nice to see skeletons. They're faster than zombies and not as stupid, so they could be used as elite. Except, they die in less hits since they don't have any flesh that absorbs the damage impact. Also, after playing Fire Emblem 4 I'd like to persuade everyone into having skeleton horsemen with lances in their games.

Actually, if you want to see new sprites and such, you will have to find some people to submit them. I have a page on PVZR's Website that allows you to submit your animations. Please spread the word of the game, and it's art competition.

All of those are in PVZ already. Palm tress protect plants from lobbed attacks. Cacti take out flying zombies. Chompers eat zombies, but they take far too long to chew and are practically useless.

Not what she meant at all... I get the feeling that you're just trying to advertise your game and get programming/art help, not game design help.

I interpret this thusly:

I'm too lazy to put your suggestions into action. I've just made this topic to get bonus attention to my game.


Therefore I'm gonna close this topic as it is a pre-WIP topic. Make a demo, then post a topic in the correct forum board.
