Hey, I need help!

I have a few questions.

What is the difference between GM8 and GM HTML5?

Can you put your games onto your own website with GM8?

The difference is that GM8 can export to Windows only, but GM:HTML5 can export to Windows, HTML5 and soon Mac. You cannot put games with GM8 in the Internet, but if you buy GM:HTML5, you can import .gmk files.

So really, GM8 is just a waste of money! :)

Thanks anyway. (I think HTML5 is very expensive though)

I haven't used GM to develop windows games and since buying HTML5 i've mostly tested the Studio beta so take this with a grain of salt but i *think* another difference is how GM 8 gives you access to dlls and DirectX

Maybe someone else can confirm this

Yes in Game Maker HTML5 you cannot use dll's. However you can put your game maker 8 games on the internet by putting them on some site like Mediafire or the Yoyo Games Sandbox.

Absolutely not! (Yeah, you better take that back Furmo!!! ("He said jokingly") )

GM8 is less expensive than Studio but then again, GM:S is aimed at the more serious developers.

GM8 is plenty "serious" on its own, and it's a great way to get started.

EDIT: BTW, this thread has some more answers to your question.

Don't bother.

The guy posts a poorly worded question. Then 15 minutes later after just one (somewhat incomplete) response, decides GM is a waste of money.

Even with these fancier multi-platform versions of GM available, 8 is not a waste of money at all. Jumping into GMHTML5/Studio with too-high hopes and little certainty about whether it's what you really want or need would definitely be a mistake, though.
