Alg0Rhythm is another program that I programmed that algorithmically makes music. Where LPMG (check my sig) allows the user to create their own tracks and tweak, Alg0Rhythm is more or less automated (other than hitting the play button).
Sometimes music comes out okay, other times not. It will just depend on luck.
It composes a melody + chord progression, in major or minor, with a randomized chord progression.

This program utilizes the Midi Notes extension from NPC3232.

...Possibly the strangest thing I've downloaded from here.

It's pretty darn cool, actually. The chipper song got rather irritating after a while, but it's still genius! This would be much better if you could tell it to write a song x number of seconds long, and then it would compose a piece and put some sort of cadence point at the end.

EDIT: Oh, and the ability to export said piece to MP3 or something. That sounds hard though...

Very cool. Well done!

OK... so the songs weren't stellar. But hey, they were definitely music. They had a theme and followed some logical sequence. I tried 4-5 and got something completely different each time. Great fun.

I hope you add more features, like the minor keys you mentioned. And exporting might be useful too (as IKSB suggested).

I already changed the length of the songs to a smaller size as IKSB suggested (they had a length before, I was just stupid & made it extra long xP), and, as I said, minor scale & chord progressions are planned.

However, about exporting sound... I might add an export MIDI, but I was having trouble with it in LPMG where the MIDI headers would come out kind of corrupt & cause the songs not to open correctly in sequencers & stuff. Very irritating.

ok, ok.
I like it, and I'll like it to be finished.
not trying to rush you but to tell you to finish it not just leave it half done!
I really like it since I'm not good at making and getting songs. :P

Small update:
~ Added Minor scale, Minor Chords, Minor Chord Progressions.
~ Chord progressions are not set anymore & are now completely randomized. (4096 possible combonations per scale)
~ Shortened the length of songs by 70ish percent.

This is cool for people that have an idea of music theory, but have trouble getting started with composing something. It can create a base for which to work with. The music was random and different every time. Nothing I heard would be particularly good or useful on its own, but it turned out some interesting melodies that would be a good base to build from.

Very cool, sometimes generates something of worth. Looking forward to updates, if you plan them. This could become bad ass.
I'd love there to be an option to modify the rhythm, instead of just straight with no change in beat. Take some simple drumming rhythms for the chord line?
