Thanks for your support!
The GameJolt Token and UserName are for the new achievements system that has been added - they save online if you are on GameJolt. Don't worry about it for now, but for the final version I will make it far clearer.

@Nuento - thanks for the review. I'll take your feedback into consideration as I continue to develop the game. Please do bear in mind that it is only version 0.2, and continue to follow its updates as the game progresses. I can easily fix the sound bug - I accidentally left that in due to a debug feature, but thank you for reminding me. The GameJolt login is optional to test their new API - feel free to play as a guest user as it makes no difference to the gameplay.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I will add a save feature for the next version to save your level, exp and number of total stat points earned. All the enemies scale with your level already so it will be easy enough. You can then re-allocate your upgrade tree and stat points if any new upgrades or crafting items have been added between versions.

New version out!

I am still working on the save/load, but thought I'd upload the game as it's been ages since the last update.

The game will still create a savefile, but don't count on it successfully loading yet, (sorry).


THE GAME NOW HAS OVER 350 PLAYS!

Version 0.25

- Fixed name/token input bug - now you can login regardless of dashes (-) or other symbols in your username.

- Added Weapon: Spear (stone-tipped) - large range, can be thrown for extra damage or swung for medium damage.

- Added Weapon: Spear (metal-tipped) - Tier two crafting required. Like an upgrade to the stone-tipped spear.

- Added enemies: now have enemy scouts which, when they sight you, will alert the enemies to your presence. Enemy Demolishers will then spawn and attack your base.

- Added new upgrades to the upgrade tree.

- Modified stats - changed a LOT of things about levelling up and upgrades to make the bonus strength gives to attack damage less good.

- New graphics - for falling trees, etc.

- Autosave / Autoload - however it is very buggy and works about 1% of the time at the moment. I will hopefully have it fixed soon.

Achievement unlocked: Break someone's self-post streak.
Anyway, sorry I haven't given much feedback lately. I'll leave some as soon as I play the game!

Edit: Made a decision like 20 minutes after I posted to play it now instead of another day. I wrote stuff down as I played.
- Nice, you now have a credits page and stuff. The effects on the menu look great.
- The achievements are a nice touch. Don't have a GameJolt account though.
- I really don't like the tutorial textboxes. It's kinda annoying opening them all, and as the game went on, they started accumulating at the bottom of the screen, forcing me to open and close them all while trying not to get killed. A one-time tutorial or a menu option for it would probably work better. The warnings could just appear as text near the top of the screen.
- The rats move quite fast now and they're hard to hit. Guess I can't use them for my first couple level-ups anymore. :P
- Don't remember if enemies exploded like that last time I played, but it's pretty cool.
- Crafting and collecting is still fun, although crafting doesn't seem to work anymore. Clicking does nothing.
- Okay, finally, something that shoots at me! ...Those scouts take a LOT of damage. How did I run into such tough enemies less than two minutes into the game? I don't even have any items yet!

Anyway, I died after the scouts got me. Still a fun game. :thumbsup:

I will have to change the tutorial at some point then :( that took me about 4 hours to fully make...

I'll slow down the rats.

Crafting might have been not Woking properly due to a lack of strength, materials or having not unlocked that tier of crafting items in the upgrade tree yet. I'll make it so the thing you lak shows up in red when you try to craft an item.

The scouts are currently overpowered for a number of reasons:
Firstly I clearly know their inner workings so know exactly how to fight them without dying ;)
Secondly I reduced the damage bonus awarded for strength.
Thirdly they currently appear a bit too early, so I'll have to change that. I'll reduced their health and damage output.

The demolishers (if you got that far) are like strong enemies that focus on your base. They have far too much hp at the moment because I plan on adding base defences but haven't yet :P

After about 20 seconds of playing I received a bunch of errors and it crashed.
My anti-virus also thought this game was a virus when I tryed to start it.
I let my anti - virus allow it though.


The new menu looks great!

I believe this is down to you not unzipping the files, or maybe your antivirus prevented my game from creating the necessary DLLs?
The external functions it is referring to are from netread.dll most likely... If you didn't unzip the game it won't work.
