Ok, this is my entry in LD#23, Hoperay. It was my first try and I'm glad to make it in time. The game is about a ship(you) against a single "boss" enemy. Big and tough, he have some attacks pattern that keeps appearing when his health is decreasing.

Here is a gameplay video. It's only a part though:

After thinking about it, I liked the idea to transforming in a full game. So, i ask for some feedback you can give me, hoping to refine it and to create a great game where the players can enjoy it. Here you can find the entry page: http://www.ludumdare...eview&uid=10863

If you plan to rate it in Ludum Dare (if you can), try "Windows" link. If not, please try "Windows (Updated)" link.

Note aside, the music is not mine (and I give the credits to their respective music artists from Newgrounds), but I don't plan to keep them for long. I want to make his own music, after learning how to do it

Well, thanks for playing it!

That was rather frustrating, to be honest.

First of all... I think you used an "a" when you should have used "an" in the brief plot synopsis.

As for the game itself, the enemy literally used one attack only the entire time, so I found myself aimlessly holding down the fire button (with no strategy for shooting you might as well just have it shoot automatically constantly) and dodge left and right listlessly. Then the two side orbs came in, and made life miserable for my poor little ship. After taking a beating trying to destroy them, I returned to focusing fire on the central orb... and then the two side orbs immediately respawned! What the heck?! It made me feel like my efforts to destroy the side orbs were meaningless.

So then I decided, to heck with this side orbs thing! I just focused fire on the center and decided to dodge around a bit, but to no avail! I was swiftly blasted into non existence!

I realize this was made in a short period of time, so congrats on this accomplishment - honestly, you did a good job. You certainly have the retro style down. But I am critiquing this as a full game, and it still needs some work... which is probably why it's in the Work In Progress forum. I hope you stick with this and make it a good game! Good luck, sir!

I tried your game and decided to give you a little feedback about it.

First of all, the graphics were stylish and the sounds and music seemed to fit the game well. However, the gameplay was somewhat repetitive, since there was only one attack and there weren't that many different attack patterns. You could probably add some variation to make the game more interesting. I also had some trouble going to diagonal directions (e.g. left and up) and pressing space at the same time with my keyboard, which made dodging kind of difficult. You should also spell-check the intro text.

In any case, I hope you'll be able to make some adjustments to your game to make it better =)
