You've put a lot of effort on it.
I felt some nostalgy by playing your game (the music, the graphics, the puzzles...everything).
When I finished,I said:Nooo an unfinished puzzle game...Lol.

I want more levels. :turned:

Thanks. :) Yep, more levels are on the way. I'm going to start making levels again after I upload a version without all the current bugs, so I can be sure I've got a good game engine to work with instead of the rushed calamity that was the Jam version. (Been busy, so while I've had the misalignment fixed for a while now, I still have to tweak a couple other things.)

Gaaaahhhh, okay, I should have finished the update by now, but every time I fix a bug, another one pops up in its place. I think I'm gonna take a break from bug fixing and work on another one of my games first, so I can get a substantial amount of something done before the end of the month. I'd just like to finish some things up in case I decide to join Jam 7.

OK, I just tried Origami v 0.5. The way the game works is simply AWESOME! 'Folding' the screen has to be a VERY unique concept. I didn't think stuff like this could be implemented!

I always like games based on themes like children's games, songs, music and little activities like chess and origami. So naturally the name of this got me interested enough. I wished this game was longer.

Though I seem to encounter some bugs:
Minor ones:
-The achievement appeared at the time I got it. But after completing the stage and heading to the next, it appears briefly again... Also appears briefly in the instruction screen. Is there any way to view all the achievements at once?
-Sometimes after folding I get teleported to another part of the screen. I don't think this is intended...
But a major bug is that many times during level 8, the folds refused to 'unfold' when I right-clicked on the dots, so I couldn't progress, and currently I'm stuck there...

Other than that, the artwork is pretty impressive. I especially like how the 'dots' flash and that crease effect (is that what you call it? The lines for folding?)

Well I enjoyed this game a lot and I'm looking forward to the full version! +1.

EDIT: Got pass Level 8. Found out how to get around the bugs.

Whoa, I wasn't expecting a necrobump until after I fixed all the bugs. :P

"OK, I just tried Origami v 0.5. The way the game works is simply AWESOME! 'Folding' the screen has to be a VERY unique concept. I didn't think stuff like this could be implemented!"
Haha thanks! Just remember, next time you think "I have a neat idea" and then start second-guessing yourself, you might be onto something...

"I wished this game was longer."
So do I. I'm making more levels as soon as I have time to get the bugs out of the game. Another game of mine is a lot closer to completion, so I’m focusing on that for now.
My plan for Origami is to have two or three sets of levels, but it’s dependent on how well I can fix all the glitches and how many good ideas I can put in.

”Though I seem to encounter some bugs:”
Ooh. Yeah.
Achievements: It’s been unchanged since the rushed Jam version, so it’s really buggy. I’m completely redoing it.
Folding: Yeah, it’s unintended. It’s a side effect of the collision code.
Unfolding: Explanation’s in the first post.

"Other than that, the artwork is pretty impressive. I especially like how the 'dots' flash and that crease effect (is that what you call it? The lines for folding?)"
Thanks! I've gotten a lot of mixed opinions on the artwork, actually. On one hand, it's consistent and has a nice texture, but on the other hand, the quality’s a bit lower than what I usually make. Take what you will of it.

"Well I enjoyed this game a lot and I'm looking forward to the full version! +1."
Thanks! I appreciate it!

- The difficulty curve. I know some of the levels aren't in order of increasing difficulty at the moment, but what I'd like to know is what you thought of the current content. Is it too easy and repetitive? Just right? That sort of thing.

9 was far too easy, I cleared it without even thinking, and 10 is kind of annoying, not so much for the puzzle itself, which is brilliantly done, just for the jumps which seem to be just constantly out of reach.

- Whether the new version of folding is self-explanatory enough (it's at the bottom of page 3)

Folding is fine, just wish there was some in-game indication of it refusing to unfold because I'm stood too close to it's x or y lines.

- Should I keep the achievements? They were only there to fulfill the Jam 6 handicap.

The achievements seem kind of pointless now that I look at it, I think it would be a better idea to place "collectibles" instead. Maybe have origami craft sheets lying around or something.

I haven't posted here in a while. :P

There will be an update to this game sometime soon, probably in the next month or so. So far, I've redone the folding system and it's a lot faster and less buggy. The upcoming version will just be improvements to existing content; all the new stuff will be implemented gradually after I have a more solid foundation to build on.

I've also done part of the crafting system mentioned earlier in the topic. It's pretty cool. The player guy unfolds into a piece of square paper and refolds into whatever item you want. You can turn into a crane to fly over chasms, for example. I'm planning to add the ability to do it to certain enemies too - you can force them to unfold and refold into items that help you through the level.

Have you fixed bugs that have to do with not folding properly or "sticking" to platforms?

From the screenshot I didn't actually notice any change, but I guess it's just subtle.

Welcome back. I got a kick out of your game when you first posted it...so very long ago.

(PS, funny you should add in player folding himself. That's the basic concept of a game I've been working on, though other than that the gameplay is quite different. The game mechanic can be a real nuisance! See my siggie if you wanna see how it's going.)
