I have learned about the registry editor recently, you can open it with run just type in regedt32.
i just want to know if you can use game maker to read and write to the registry editor?

If I'm remembering correctly (and they didn't remove the ability to), then yes, you can.
However, I don't remember exactly how it's done or the code to do it.
I'd highly advise against it though, for 2 huge reasons:
- If you don't know what you're doing or you make a mistake, you can really mess things up
- People don't like their registries being messed with so it'd make less people want to try out your game

I assume you use GM8 so look it up in the help file. There's a lot of functions for it but I've never used them before.
I believe that Studio is now sandboxed and editing the registry (or anything else outside of the game's main folder) is impossible, so if you're using Studio it looks like you're out of luck.
