This isn't so much a "my god GameMaker is that good" than it is a genuinely heartwarming story that happens to include GameMaker. But because it does, I thought I'd spread the word. It's well worth a read, and if I could give that kid a high-five for being amazing, I would. :)

Good for him, a real nice article you've found there :)

I couldn't see a link there to play the game, it would be interesting to have a go at playing a game designed to enable a blind person to play unhindered.

I would make a game for my grandmother, but she thinks video games are a waste of time and that they are poisons to society. Posted Image

@ Mr.RPG: Smart lady.
@ NAL... For real? Interesting. (I had assumed that the title was just a lil white lie to draw attention to a new game of yours!)

My mother can hardly use a computer, I can't imagine my grandmother trying to play a video game.

Anyway, cool story. I laughed at this bit though:

"Of course, he's always said he wants to be a policeman or construction worker or garbage truck driver

They must have pretty awesome garbage trucks in California :P

Very nice guy, congratulations! I want to make a game for my family, but some of them don't know how to use a computer and others don't like video games. Only my cousins.

Very nice feel good story. Glad to see there was a link to YYGs in the story.

And the answer to the age old question, What's more important graphics or game play, is finally answered.

To be honest, it doesn't sound like the game has too much gameplay either ;)

To be honest, I think the ingenuity of anybody, especially a young person to create a game that can be played by a blind person demonstrates extraordinary insight. The fact that he is not only a young person, but new at game creation amplifies that even more.

By the standards set by those with sight, sure probably not much in game play, but to create a playable game for those without sight, like it or not, that is a testament to this game's game play elements.

Bravo! At that extremely young age it is very impressive indeed to be able to use GM.

For a brilliant cause too!
