I am only new to Gamemaker and so was doing the first of the very basic tutorials and found that the F1 functionality for bringing up the default help file (entered under Game Information) does not work.

Is this a studio bug, an aspect of running your game within Studio or possibly something I have done wrong?

Game Information has been deprecated as an in game thing - we have left it in the Maker as users liked using it for notes and things.

Build any manual or tutorial into the game as this is then cross platform - RTF text is not good or well supported over all devices...

execute_shell() with your rtf ("help.rtf") will do the same job gm8 did but start whatever program that is associated with rtf and not pause the game. you would need to include your rtf in the distribution though.

It's a cheap alternative that works only in Windows.
