I'd love to use this for Sonic Trilogy Enhanced... seeing as how it fits this kind of thing... with hi scores, top times, achievements, multiplayer... etc,
Also... what about the name Gears... Since Game Maker has a gear for a logo??

Hi guys,
I'm Vlad and I'm considering making a Steam like system for game maker. I have experience with this kind of thing, so experience wont be a problem.
I believe i will be able to make a fast steam like system with user accounts, a nice overlay, friends, friend chat, etc.
It will be free for anyone to use, and I may even add revenue sharing if it gets popular (fingers crossed)
For this to work i'm going to ask you guys some questions please put aside 5 mins of your day to answer, i would really appreciate all replies to this topic!
1) Can you think of a name for such a system. I've only thought of Zure. If you like Zure please say so, or if you would rather a different name tell me here
2) Would you be interested in using such a system in your games?
3) color scheme?
4) anything else you want to say or ask I will answer every question
Also, what features would people like to see? I'm thinking, Account, Friends, Cloud data, Auto-Update, what else![]()
Thanks guys :D Vlad
1) I do Have a Name idea how about G-Surge
2) Yes I would be very interested in using this in my games If I can find the website link :D
3) color scheme looks awesome
4) How about the abillity for users to add their own custom features directly to the system without having to bhave every user update the system it just gets automaticly added to like a custom content section :D
Also I had another Idea of Making your sort of framework for the system as well that will make a Game automaticly zure compatible and will not work without zure installed
best of luck with your software

Thanks for the reply!
I think I am going to stick with Zure for now for the name. I have already set up all the databases and scripts set up to work with that

1) Althought Zure sounds fine it's not something everyone would know how to pronounce and is close to Zune. However, I can't think of suggestions for names.
2) Don't let anyone upload any game at anytime. I suggest having a team (which I would gladly be a part of) where people send in their games and we play them. Basically we see
-Is it actually good enough to be on the site. Having games with grey background and no menu etc etc makes the site look more than professional
-Does it mess with your system (malware etc)
and the like.
3) Also get a domain name (if you are using zure have zure.com) and sell ad space. For good games have the authors be able to pay to promote there game on the site. It will pay for the domain name.
edit*
just fixed spelling because I was in a rush.

Hey SIMOX, I see that you are new here, and that you put quotation marks around his post to show that you were replying to it. However, on the GMC and most other forums you can easily wrap his post in a more visible type of quote, by doing this:
[quote]Blah blah blah whatever yada yada yada[/quote]
...Which looks like this:
Blah blah blah whatever yada yada yada
You can also add a name and a date to the post. This can be done in two ways, either manually or by pressing the "Quote" button directly underneath his post. To add these manually, give the Quote BBCode attributes (much like in HTML if you know it). That is done like this:
[quote name="ThatGuy" date="14 February 1996 - 7:31 PM"]This is what the quoted text should look like... Lalalalala[/quote]
...And the end result should look like this:
This is what the quoted text should look like... Lalalalala
Hope I helped

@Neon00 Thanks, its good to hear you are looking forward to the release. Don't worry, as was explained before, I know what I am throwing myself into, and am willing to give it a go :D. Also, Zure is already accepting entries to reserve game names and test out the web-side of things at the website, so feel free to add your game(s) to the database (Website)
@aaabbbccc Zure is most likely going to stick now, and I really don't mind how it is pronounced
I pronounce it (Z-yure). Your second point gave me an idea, kinda branching off of your suggestion, how about each game can have multiple "flags", such as "Moderated", "Untrusted", etc. And you will be able to appeal to get/remove a flag from administrators. Then there would be an option in the games section to filter by flag, by default all games with flags such as "Untrusted", "WIP", "NYP" (Not Yet Playable) would be filtered out. Ill try and make this a working concept tomorrow night. What do you think? As for your third point, I hope to get the domain sorted shortly after release so that Zure is in a stable state once it is at a properly usable stage.
@SIMOX Interesting title, I will consider it. Great to hear you too will want to use Zure. The colour scheme has been set with red and a dark crème as visible on the website (Website). Your a man of few words? Good. Me too. :D

I think your flag Idea is cool, however if you really want your site to look professional I don't think it's the right direction to go. I mean, the topic is called "Steam for Game Maker"
and steam does not have an "untrusted" section and such. I know you don't want to be exactly like steam and this is your own project so of course it's all up to you, but I would suggest to have every game tested before it gets uploaded so your site maintains a certain standard. (yoyogames does this too to make sure their is no malware) plus it would require a lot more effort to have a bunch of different sections for whether or not it's tested.

1) Just over seven days until Zure Alpha release!
2) New Website: http://zure.mining4games.com
3) Alpha will be hosted for 30 days, at the end of July, there may be a week of downtime to fix any bugs/glitches encountered, followed by permanent uptime :D

Is this still happening? I'd love to sign up for this if it is...
Also I still maintain that Gears is a much better name. ![]()
